Can't send email from main domain to subdomain.

I have a domain. say it's example.com. with email hosted on this server.

there's also a subdomain. subdomain.example.com

I cannot send email from example.com to subdomain.example com. it complains about local delivery failing.

there is a separate MX record for subdomain.example.com, and i added subdomain.example.com as a relay domain.

email from any other domain on the server goes to the right place, and email from off the server goes to the right place, but email set from example.com it still attempts local delivery for, which fails.

what do I do about this?

Hi Mr.,

fire up your shell, and do some testing:

$ exim4 -bt us...@example.org
$ exim4 -bt us...@subdomain.example.org

This should give you a hint. If not, perhaps it will give us a hint if
you paste the output of these commands.
