Back then, I had no idea if anyone would read Book Scavenger, let alone want to play a version of the game in the book. But I kept thinking about how if I had read Book Scavenger when I was a kid, I would have wanted the game to be real. And the first thing I would have done after finishing the book would have been to look it up and see if it was. So I wanted something to exist for other readers like me.

You guys are void walking here. No one has answered my question about the last big update in January so don't expect the devs to answer. We just have to accept that it will come when it comes, and usually thats 1 month probably after the other console releases. I'm guessing these bigger sparser updates work against us because they will probably wait an extra couple weeks and a couple of iterations before submitting it to Nintendo's approval process.

We start the switch patch as soon as the console branch has the new content in it. But because of the turnaround time on Nintendo patches we have to wait until we're pretty sure the bugfixes have settled down before submitting to Nintendo. Then we wait. Then it either fails and we try again, or it goes through and sure we could do a post updating you that we now have news or we could just push the button and make it live.

Basically since we don't hold the patches back the soonest we know the release date is right before we push the button setting it live and thus there's no news to share other than "It's live, go play it!"

If you want an easy way to kill FW then turn rifts on, get a brightshade staff and watch AFW struggle against you for once. You could then use the bone armor + bone helm to have an easier time with CC (though phase three is always troublesome).

Walter is good for killing CC on switch. Night armour, thulecite crowns and darkswords for first 2 phases then slingshot with thulecite rounds for phase 3. CC is a pretty chill fight when using Walter tbh just abit long. Bad thing is the quest line for CC is so long compared with AFW.

I think that the Brightshade staff is a little bit too late game to be a valid tool for use on AFW, and I would suggest Klei to buff either the Boomerang (to bounce between targets like the BS staff can) or buff blow darts so they can hold more ammo.

You have never played on console or with a controller so your opinion about console gameplay is not coming from a place of any relevant experience hence klei shouldn't take your opinion on board for these matters.

people were killing him on consoles before brightshade staff got added, you know, i also refuse to believe that the controls are that bad that you can't swap between 1 pair of items for hand and body slot (dark sword and thule club and night armor and magi in case of wolfgang 1 cycle, only twice during the entire fight without much hurry), walk and hit whatever's closest to you

you can see controls on the screen when looking at videos of people playing using a controller, people also seem to be able to swap 2 items before FW reaches them after a bone cage, which is fast enough for the strat

wolfgang being better still applies to switch and i know that people were killing him using weather pains even before they changed their targeting, i don't respond to anything that only applies to platforms that i don't play on

The difference ive noticed from pc to switch version. Pc version has a much higher skill ceiling and better execution. I can lazy teleport rapidly between shadow hands while weather paining accurately and quickly inbetween to stop woven shadows.

Cant do this on switch version, you are limited by the slow scroll speed through your inventory and while you can auto pause to select stuff in inventory you are also pausing the fun. Ofc the accuracy of telepoofing (wortox teleport) and the targetting of weather pain is horrible. Multitasking on console is much much harder due to the controls.

A solution to this which also would help newer or more casual players (tbh 90% of DST players struggle fighting ancient fuelweaver solo without exploits on pc) is to nerf ancient fuelweaver by limiting woven shadows to one wave per round of shadow hands.

Klei this change shouldnt effect elitist players like grm9 who will kill the last woven shadow at the same time as the last shadow hand so for pros the strat wont change but will help noobs like me on the switch version who find it harder to multitask. That way i can focus on killing all the woven shadows then back off to heal or whatever without the countdown starting for them. Then i can go kill the shadow hands on my terms. This simple change will allow for the clunkiness of console controls and make the fight less tedious.

that'd still affect minimal gear strats since you could just have him eat 1, kill the rest, then kill the unseen hands whenever and that'd probably be faster, that'd also affect how much you'd get punished for messing up, which is what makes the strat risky, hard and fun, someone in another thread suggested to set woven shadows and unseen hands cd to at least 6 seconds if they're below that after cd of 1 of them gets set to 20 seconds which would still make the fight less punishing, but at least not as much if people really don't like practicing

these people probably don't know that there are more fun and easier ways to kill him, similarly to how people still think that your ham bat rotting while fighting toadstool is unavoidable even though you can just drop it, you could've also swapped to wormwood instead of wolfgang and used bramble husks for woven shadows if you don't want to learn anything nor get brightshade staff

I used this scavenger hunt in mid-april and it was a HUGE success! We had over 500 kiddos take part and it was a blast! Thanks so much for the updated bunnies as I was hoping for a Pikachu and Minecraft bunny lol. Thanks so much to everyone who contributed to this fantastic passive program.

Every since we started putting scavenger hunts around the library they have been a huge success. Its always a treat watching them run around the library (at a save and considerate pace) and asking for clues of where they might be. But I have just one problem:
HOW AM I GOING TO TOP IT?!
I keep trying to think of new and exciting passive programs to have for kids to participate with, but none as smashing a success as our scavenger hunts.

Scavenger hunts are pretty hard to beat. Even I get excited to do them when I run across one somewhere. I wrote a blog post awhile back with other passive program ideas. The obstacle courses might give them a run for their money! -directed-library-programs/
