Being one of the simplest web browsers, Google Chrome is used by a majority of people to surf the web worldwide. While navigating through the sites and pages, if you ever stumble upon a Vimeo video that you believe would be helpful, it automatically becomes important to get that clip on your local computer for offline viewing and sharing. This is where a downloading program comes into play.

If the domain is listed in your video settings page, but the error is still appearing, the domain specified in your address bar may be different from the domain sent to the Vimeo player. In these cases, a privacy error may appear. Contact a web developer to confirm if there is anything in your site's HTML code that could be blocking the referrer from reaching our player iframe.

I appreciate this, but it hasn't solved the issue. the videos don't work with VPN on or off. so it isn't the VPN I don't think. I've reached out to the company who's website it is and they haven't made any changes to their site and as I mentioned above, the site works fine on two other computers I have tested which don't have Bitdefender installed.

If the VPN is not causing this behaviour, you could also try to temporarily disable the security modules in Bitdefender, and check the videos after each deactivation, to see if they work. This would help identify the root cause. Make sure to re-enable your defenses once the troubleshooting process is done. You can find the steps on how to do this in the article below:

I have the same issue with the Anti-tracker and Vimeo videos, if their privacy settings are set to certain domain. I've figured it out, when our online courses stopped to work for people using Bit deffender. Would it be possible to fix that issue? Is there any coordidation with Vimeo required?

Kim, I deleted you email address, this is a public world wide forum, and I would hate to see you get spammed. Please know that any useful information that has been posted and can be provided here, is a safer way to go.

@Scott
Thank you for removing that email from my post but it shows in yours.
Is there a way for me to be notified via email when a response is received?
Nothing posted here has helped my inability to watch videos I watched recently.
Thanks again,
A Very Needy User

That's a very good question asked and a good way to go about it. Go to your Profile page and click on Account Privacy Settings (right hand side), then again on the right hand side is a Notification Preferences option, click that and on the left hand side scroll down to Posts, and it will give you both options if desired of an email notification and forum notification.

@Scott Thanks again.
How rapidly should I expect replies to my query? And, how do I get help in the meantime?
Thanks again,
An Even More Needy User Now-because I need to do work instead of research bitdefender issues:)

You can contact support from here, tick How-Tos and Troubleshooting and go through the prompts until you get the black Contact Support box, then I would start with Chat, as they can head you in the right direction more quickly.

The error message "Sorry, because of its privacy settings, this video cannot be played here" typically occurs on Vimeo when the video owner has set privacy restrictions that prevent the video from being embedded or played on external websites or platforms. This error is often encountered when someone tries to embed a video from Vimeo onto another website, and the video's privacy settings do not allow it to be played outside of Vimeo's own platform.

If you encounter this error message while trying to watch a video on a website other than Vimeo itself, it's likely due to one of the above reasons. In such cases, there isn't much you can do to override the privacy settings set by the video owner, as respecting these settings is crucial for protecting the content creator's rights and preferences.

IF you are encountering the error while trying to watch content on the Vimeo platform itself, it typically means that the video's privacy settings are configured to restrict playback in some way. The video may be set to "Private," meaning it's only accessible to users who have been granted permission by the video owner. If you're not logged in or if you don't have the necessary permissions, you won't be able to watch the video. The video owner may have restricted playback to specific domains. If you're trying to watch the video from a domain that is not authorized, you'll encounter this error. The video owner may have set restrictions on where the video can be played, such as limiting playback to certain regions or countries. If you're trying to watch the video from an unsupported location, you may see this error. The video may be password-protected, or the permissions have expired or been revoked by the video owner.

So as you can see, there are many possible reasons behind this and the antivirus may not actually be the culprit here. This is not something that's been happening for years, it's a behavior whose root cause may be related to any of the reasons explained above, including but not limited to the anti-tracker extension, as one of our members found out.

The Media Engagement Index, or MEI for short, a way of Chrome is to allow AutoPlay audio on your page to be based on your previous interactions with this webpage as a user. You can see what this looks like by going to

Now the autoplay video just works if the audio is muted, you need to add the muted parameter into your api or iframe code &muted=1, you can change your browser preferences to allow autoplay unmuted videos: chrome://flags/#autoplay-policyChange the default option to "No user gesture is required"

?background=1: This parameter automatically disables all elements in the player (play bar, buttons, etc), autoplays, loops, and mutes your video on load. Please note: the background parameter is only supported for videos hosted by paid members. Learn more here.

Part 3: FAQsHow to Speed Up Vimeo Videos? [4 Solutions]Though it is a bit complicated to speed up Vimeo videos, it doesn't mean there aren't any solutions to fix the issue. Here, we will discuss the top methods that will increase the playback speed of a Vimeo video.

Though you can use methods below to speed up Vimeo videos, it's still traditional and terribly complicated. If you want to create wonderful video to share on social media platform like TikTok and Youtube or outcompete others in Vimeo, only speeding up videos is not enough. Edit them more carefully, change the speed of certain clips for special effect, and you are more likely to stand out among videos with the same theme.
