Access AAHA's Diagnostic Terms List

Thank you for your interest and support, and for being patient, as we
worked through development of the AAHA Diagnostic Terms (a SNOMED-CT
subset with veterinary extensions), which are now available on the
AAHA website, www.aahanet.org, as an Open Standard. This list
represents a starting version intended to encompass >90% of the
diagnoses made in a canine and feline general practice. It will evolve
and improve as people contribute suggestions for additions and
retirements. Below you will find the access instructions. The website
will guide you through these instructions as well.


· Go to https://secure.aahanet.org/eWeb/DynamicPage.aspx?site=resources&webcode=diagnosticterms

· Set up an online account. If you already have one from
visiting www.aahanet.org, use that account.

· Apply for a UMLS number from the National Institute of
Medicine or an International Affiliate Number. Having a license number
to use the terms is necessary because the terms are mapped to SNOMED-
CT® codes. Getting a license number is easy and free. The links are
below (they are also available on the website):

To obtain a UMLS number, go to http://wwwcf.nlm.nih.gov/umlslicense/snomed/license.cfm

To obtain an International Affiliate Number, go to
https://www.uktcregistration.nss.cfh.nhs.uk/trud/

· Review and accept the AAHA License Agreement; enter the UMLS
or International Affiliate number where indicated; provide your
primary intended use for the terms where indicated; and print a copy
for your records.

· Download a zipped copy of the documentation file and an XML
file of the terms, or preview the terms online.

· If you have any problems downloading the file or have
questions regarding the content of the files, contact information is
given on the closing page.
