अहीर रेजिमेंट एक ऐतिहासिक जरुरत-अहीर रेजिमेंट- राष्ट्रीय जरुरत
1. अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ अहीर शूरवीरों की भूमिका:-
(क) सूबेदार भोंदू सिंह के नेतृत्व में कानपुर में बगावत का झंडा
(ख) रेवाड़ी नरेश राव तुलाराम, राव गोपालदेव एवं राव किशन सिंह के नेतृत्व में बगावत
(ग) बिहार मे जागीरदार कुँवर रणजीत सिंह के नेतृत्व में बगावत
(घ) 1922 में उत्तर प्रदेश में फौजी भगवान सिंह यादव के नेतृत्व में अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ बगावत
(ड़) सिंगापुर विद्रोह 1939-1940 के बीच 19 हैदराबाद रेजिमेंट के वीर अहीरों द्वारा राष्ट्रीय अस्मिता के लिए विद्रोह
2. 1897 के प्रथम सैन्य पुर्नगठन:-
(क)  इस पुर्नगठन में उस समय 6 इन्फेन्ट्री रेजिमेंट में से 2 इन्फेन्ट्री रेजिमेंट में 25-25 प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी थी। 1878-80 के अफगान युद्ध से पहले, अहीरों को बंगाल और बोम्बे आर्मी में भर्ती किया जाता था। बंगाल आर्मी में 15 विशुद्ध कम्पनियाँ अहीरो की थीं और बोम्बे आर्मी में मिश्रित कंपनियों में काफी अहीर थे। 1914-18 के युद्ध से ठीक पहले पैदल सेना में भी अहीरों की 6 कम्पनियाँ थीं और अन्य दूसरी फोजी शाखाओं में, विशेष रूप से आर्टिलरी में अहीर काफी संख्या में थे।

3. प्रथम विश्वयुद्ध:-
(क) मेजर ए.एच. बिग्ले के अनुसार 1914-18 के प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के दौरान 19,546 अहीर सैनिक अहीरवाल क्षेत्र से भर्ती हुए। अखंड भारत में जनसंख्या व कार्यरत सैनिकों के अनुपात में अहीरवाल क्षेत्र के अहीर सैनिक सभी हिन्दू सैनिक जातियों में सर्वप्रथम थे।
(ख) अहीर सैनिकों ने पूर्वी अफ्रीका मेसोपोटामिया, काला सागर आदि के मोर्चो पर अपनी वीरता और सैन्य गुणों का लोहा सारे संसार में मनवाया।
4. द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध:-
(क) 1940-44 के युद्ध के दौरान 38,150 अहीर सैनिकों ने भाग लिया।
(ख)  अहीर सैनिकों ने कलादान घाटी, बर्मा, सिंगापुर आदि के मोर्चों पर पराक्रम को प्रदर्शित किया।
(ग) नेताजी सुभाष चन्द्र बोस की आजाद हिन्द फौज में अहीर सैनिकों ने बढ़-चढ़कर हिस्सा लिया।
5. वर्तमान व्यवस्था में अहीर सैनिकों की स्थितिः-
(क) इन्फैन्ट्री:-
- कुल इन्फेन्ट्री रेजिमेंट 29-32 (लगभग)
- प्रत्येक रजिमेंट में करीब 25-30 हजार सैनिक
- अहीरों की संख्या एक इन्फेन्ट्री रेजिमेंट में केवल 22 प्रतिशत
(ख) आर्म्ड कोर:-
-  कुल टुकडियां 60-70 (लगभग)
- प्रत्येक टुकड़ी में करीब 500-550 सैनिक अहीर सिर्फ 2 टुकड़ियों में 25 प्रतिशत
(ग) ग्रेनेडियरस:-
- कुल बटालियन करीब 25-30 (लगभग)
- अहीर सिर्फ तीन बटालियनों में 25-25 प्रतिशत

1971 : जैसलमेर (भारत-पाक युद्ध)
1954 : आप्रेशन मेघदूत सियाचीन (दुनियाँ का सबसे ऊँचा युद्ध क्षेत्र)
1967 : श्रीलंका (शान्ति स्थापना का प्रयास)
1999 : टाइगर हिल कारगिल (भारत-पाक युद्ध)
2001 : संसद भवन हमला अक्षरधाम हमला (भारत की आत्मा पर हमला)

AHIR REGIMENT-HISTORICAL NEED

AHIR REGIMENT-NEED OF THE NATION

 

1. Role of Ahir Chieftains against Britishers:-

(i) In 1857,SubedarBhondu Singh led the revolt in Kanpur and Ch. Ram Ratan Singh Yadav in western Uttar Pradesh.

(ii) Rewari Chieftain Rao Tula Ram, RaoGopalDev and RaoKishan Singh led the revolt in 1857 in Ahirwal of Haryana.

(iii)  In Bihar Chieftain KunwarRanjeet Singh led the revolt against Britishers.

(iv) In 1922 in Chauri-Chaura, Ex-Army man Bhagwan Singh Yadav led the revolt against Britishers.

(v) Singapore Revolt:- In 1939-40, The Ahirs of 19th Hyderabad Regiment revolted against Britishersin support of a National Cause.

2. First Army Re-Organisation in 1897:- Out of six infantryregiment,Ahirs were 25% of two regiments. Prior to the Afghan War of 1878-80, Ahirs were enlisted in the Bengal and Bombay Armies. There were 15 companies of them in the former and in the latter there were many in the mixed companies. Just before the War of 1914-18 there were six companies of infantry, and many in other branches of the service, notably in the Artillery.

3. First World War:-

(i) Major A.H. Bingley : 19,546 Ahirs from Ahirwal were recruited in British Army between 1914-18. According to him Ahirs were first amongst all Hindu Communities in ratio of soldiers and population in united India.

(ii) Ahir soldiers showed exemplary courage and soldiering qualities in war of East Africa, Mesopotamia and Black Sea.

4. Second World War:-

(i) Between 1940-44,38150 Ahirs were recruitedin Indian Army.

(ii) Ahirs Soldiers showed exemplary courage in Kaladan Valley, Burma, Singapore war fronts.

(iii) A large number of Ahir Soldiers joined Azad Hind Faujof Netaji Bose and fought against Britishers.

 

5. Position/Strength of Ahirs in today's Indian Army:-

(1) Infantry

-Total Infantry Regiments                                                   29-32 (Approx)

-Each Regiment consist of around 25-30 thousand soldiers.

-Presently Ahirs are only 22-25% of an InfantryRegiment i.e. Kumaon Regiment

(ii) Armd. Corps

-Total Units                                                                           60-70 (Approx)

-Strength of Ahirs:   25% in Two Units only.

(iii) Grenadiers:-
