That’s how we modernize safely and keep our advocacy credible.
📌 Why This Matters
India’s AI Policy Direction (MeitY)
India has adopted an “AI for All” vision, emphasizing:
• Responsible use of AI,
• Sovereign data frameworks,
• Security-by-design,
• Innovation for governance, defence, and development.The policy is about regulated adoption, not prohibition.
Effect of Contradictory Advocacy
When veterans or officers demand blanket bans, their position:
• Clashes with current government strategy,
• Creates confusion among decision-makers,
• Risks derailing constructive reforms by framing debate as “ban vs. no ban” instead of “how to regulate safely.”Strategic Cost of Faulty Advocacy
In defence contexts, contradictory arguments weaken India’s ability to modernize securely while competitors adopt AI aggressively.
In policy circles, it erodes the credibility of veterans’ input if arguments appear misaligned with national strategy documents.
Lessons for Policy Advocacy
Faulty advocacy is not driven by malice but by method.
Arguments may be unstructured, but intentions are often sincere.
Unstructured arguments can cause disruption.
When circulated at high levels, they create confusion and risk derailing reform.
If they directly oppose national policy (as with AI and MeitY), they risk undermining both credibility of veterans and policy coherence.
Critical thinking can rechannel weak advocacy.
Validate the concern, reframe into structured requirements, and redirect into appropriate process stages.
Reform requires a culture shift.
From assertion to analysis, from authority to evidence, from emotion to structure.
Conclusion
This case illustrates the principle: “Not Malice but Method.” Faulty arguments in military and veteran circles are seldom born of ill will—they reflect professional habits that undervalue critical thinking. By applying structure and generosity, even flawed advocacy can be converted into constructive input that strengthens policy. Crucially, alignment with national policy (such as MeitY’s AI for All framework) is essential to ensure that advocacy contributes to progress rather than disruption.
Why this matters now (policy alignment)
India’s current direction is to adopt AI responsibly, not ban it: the IndiaAI Mission (Cabinet approval on 7 March 2024) funds compute infrastructure, datasets, innovation, and skilling to enable safe, sovereign AI across sectors under MeitY’s stewardship. The thrust is responsible use with safeguards, not blanket prohibition.

I am adding the \chapter structure of "AI in Organizations" (not expanded text as yet) is enclosed to set the context, to let us educate about our responsibility to be responsive reviewers rather than conspiracy advocates. We as individual contributors are too powerless to stop the advance or progress of our society in general and organization in particular.
Imagine some veteran trying to stop the Industrial Revolution by crying Hoax against Industrial Revolution at the advent of Industrial Revolution or the Revolution in the making while Electricity was introduced. Forget about the veteran, not all the Chiefs both serving and retired put together can block progress when its time has come!
We need to be more policy advocates rather than policy disruptors.
Or else, other professions will have a very poor opinion of our profession!
