Dear Fellow Pensioners,
The Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) has released an Office Memorandum dated 23rd July 2025 in response to proposals and various court orders regarding the reduction of the pension commutation period from 15 years to 12 years.
🔍 Key Clarifications from the Office Memorandum:
The existing government policy of 15 years for the restoration of commuted pension remains unchanged.
All judicial remedies concerning this matter have been fully exhausted.
Any further change to the commutation period will be at the sole discretion of the Government, subject to policy revision.
This clarification officially settles ongoing speculation and reaffirms that no change can be assumed unless formally notified by the Government.
