Dogs come in cute cuddly furs, shapes, colors, and various sizes. Each breed carries a distinct personality, unique hair, and specific features. Amongst hundreds of amazing breeds found across the world, mop dogs are one-of-a-kind.

Also known as Komondor dogs, this breed has a super wavy tasseled coat resembling a dreadlock. Native to Hungarian origin, the breed falls under the herding category and was used to guard sheep once upon a time. Komdors have a face shrouded by cords of either white or ivory-colored coarse fur. They have been fondly nicknamed mop dogs because its coat resembles a sweeping mop that can withstand biting cold weather. Other breeds with such long distinctive furs (sometimes so long that it reaches the floor) are Afghan Hounds and Shih Tzus.

Though soft and fluffy until birth, the most distinguishable feature of the Komondor dog- ts fur develops into cords and curls when the dog turns two years old. When it reaches nine to ten months, the coarser topcoat begins to appear and starts getting rough and bristly, unlike the soft silky-smooth coat through which you can run your fingers easily. There is no denying that the long-flowing locks of these dog breeds will make them stand out from the crowd, but the hard part is that their coats ask for time and effort to maintain them. Even after you have groomed them, they will remain the same. However, post-pet grooming, their coats remain free from unwanted tangles and do not appear unkempt.

Though in general grooming for every long-haired dog should be uniquely customized, wiry coats do not shed easily thus the best way to groom them is by way of hand-stripping the coat. Hand stripping is a technique that is done by holding the hair and pulling from the root allowing the new hair to emerge. Even though these breeds tend to be low shedders, pet care for wavy-coated dogs is essential and needs a tad bit extra attention.

Grooming for a Komondor puppy or any wiry, curly-haired dog breed is basic, but since the hair is too long, you may have to invest more time in their coat maintenance. Not very difficult though, here are some tips to keep their coat smooth, unentangled, and disease free without getting your furry friend to run to a pet salon now and then.

In the book Rare Breed, what we try to do is flip that around and say, but what if those so-called weaknesses are actually your strengths? The real difference, as I said earlier, is that I think people that have leaned into the rare breed virtue that they have, if they look back historically across their life, they will have seen one of these traits at work in everything that they do. For probably a long time they were taught to silence it, push it down, conform it.

Many cat lovers know what a Siamese cat with blue eyes, American Shorthair, or tabby looks like. However, other breeds like a Sokoke, Scottish fold, or Minskin are much less common! These are a few of the rarest cat breeds in the world. Cat breeds so rare, you may not have ever heard of them before.

The Korat breed of cat has left its mark in ancient history. These cats lived in monasteries in the Kingdom of Siam in Thailand in the 14th century. The Korat cats were considered good luck. They were reserved for only members of the Thai government or foreign representatives as an enormous honor to own.

Although the Sphynx is well known, along with the Munchkin, their cross is still incredibly rare. The Minskin has the hairless body of the Sphynx combined with the short stature of the Munchkin. These hairless kitties are known for being friendly and compact in size.

This has happened to me from rare breed and surprisingly FR1b. The flakes are from the cork. You can fix it with a coffee filter and pouring the whiskey into another bottle, preferably one without a cork top. And then write a letter to all the bourbon bottlers pleading with them to stop using corks.:smiley_acbt:

See our IPFD Get a GRIHP! on Black Russian Terriers for conditions of concern and somewhat limited statistics. Not surprisingly, locomotor problems are on the radar, but, at least for now, it seems the breed is generally healthy and can live long lives.

Caroline Moorey is chairman of the UK-based Friends of Marwari which, in partnership with the Indigenous Horse Society of India, works to promote the breed to a global audience even though there are no Marwaris here, due to it being on a restricted export list, as well as quarantine regulations.

A rare dog breed from Malaysia, the Telomian is small to medium in size, stocky and athletic. They're noted for their unique bluish tongue, wideset eyes and eagerness to learn. They're very bright and alert, making them excellent watchdogs. They also are adept at climbing since their ancestors lived in homes that were only accessible by ladder.

Being one of the more recently domesticated dog breeds, the Telomian has strong prey instincts and shouldn't be kept in homes with small pets. They're naturally suspicious of strangers as well. If that's not a deal-breaker and you're looking for a stellar watchdog, a Telomian might be a good fit.

The Catalburun is so unique because of its unusual double nose and low-set ears, but both traits are the result of severe inbreeding. It's virtually impossible to continue breeding Catalburun dogs without mixing in other similar breeds to build a healthier genetic makeup in future litters.

In the 1700s, Louis XIV of France gave the ancestors of the bolonka to Russian nobles. They were developed by crossbreeding other small companion dogs, like the Pekinese and bichon frise, with Russian strays. Initially, all Bolonkas were solid black to hide dirt, but the breed's thick, double coat now comes in every color besides white.

They love to play, so they're a great choice for households with children. If you don't have kids and hate running, don't get a Russian toy. The breed also grows very attached to their favorite family members, so be prepared for them to complain if they don't get to lounge on your lap.

The kromfohrlander, a medium-sized companion dog, always looks happy. That's thanks to the breed's distinctive "smile" and perky ears. Some kromfohrlanders get so excited to see their owners that they burst into a fit of sneezing.

The agile breed excels at agility and obedience training and can easily learn impressive tricks. They're sometimes picky eaters, but aside from that, they make excellent pets. They are very loyal to their owners and live well into their teens, so your child's first kromfohrlander puppy could easily see them off to college.

Tiny yet elegant, the Biewer terrier has lush, long fur and a unique, tri-colored coat. It resembles a light-colored Yorkshire terrier, and the breed share a few similar personality traits. They're both cheerful and affectionate, but the Biewer terrier is much more athletic and loves to hunt mice.

The Bolognese is a cousin of the Havanese and the bichon frise, but with so much more fluff to love. They're quite a rare dog breed, so puppies can cost thousands. That said, their high price tag comes with an amazing personality.
