Pro Tools Artist, while limited in track count (32 audio tracks) and lacking advanced mixing and automation features, is beneficial for emerging artists and small studios. Ultimately, its simplicity and lower cost make it highly accessible. This allows users to focus on essential recording and mixing tasks without the complexity of advanced features.
In my case, that effort would be in vain because I only accept submissions at SubmitHub here. Soon artist.tools will allow curators to set a preferred submission method with direct links to submit on SubmitHub, Groover, and SubmitLink.
I recently tried PlaylistSupply which is kinda similar but costs a little more (20$/month for base account). I was wondering if you had any experience with PlaylistSupply. If so, do you recommend having both PlaylistSupply and artist.tools? Or would you pick one over the other?
Think about what artist might want to do and what would help them achieve that. This would require you to probably know a DCC application or an Engine at least on some level since all of them have their quirks and it would be easier for you to come up with ideas for improving artist workflow. You can also reach out to any artist you know and ask if they have ideas.
Many people believe great photos come from great cameras and that good art of any kind comes from superior tools. I never know quite how to respond to such people, because that attitude reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of the relationship between an artist or craftsman and his tools.
The big difference to me is that a person with the talent to really make use of great tools is changed when he has great tools in his hands. Something about those tools changes how he feels about himself.

Regular gesture drawing can be a fantastic way to increase your artistic skill. We recommend you start every day with at least five minutes of 30 second gesture drawings. Or, use it as a warm up to a longer work session. You will be amazed at the difference it makes.

One such tool, Nightshade, won't help artists combat existing AI models that have already been trained on their creative works. But Ben Zhao, who leads the research team at the University of Chicago that built the soon-to-be-launched digital tool, says it promises to break future AI models.
"Glaze is just a very first step in people coming together to build tools to help artists," says fashion photographer Jingna Zhang, the founder of Cara, a new online community focused on promoting human-created (as opposed to AI-generated) art. "From what I saw while I tested with my own work, it does interrupt the final output when an image is trained on my style." Zhang says plans are in the works to embed Glaze and Nightshade in Cara.
"We want artists to be able to communicate differently to the bots and the scrapers used for AI purposes, rather than giving them all of their information that they would like to provide to their fans," says Spawning co-founder Jordan Meyer.
In the meantime, McKernan says the new digital tools help them feel like they're doing something aggressive and immediate to safeguard their work in a world of slow-moving lawsuits and even slower-moving legislation.
"So, for now, this is kind of like, alright, my house keeps getting broken into, so I'm gonna protect myself with some, like, mace and an ax!" they say of the defensive opportunities afforded by the new tools.

My plan is to keep this updated, because as artists we know it's nearly impossible to go into an art store without buying something new you didn't go in for. I'm not saying it's bad to start out with cheaper materials at first - I wouldn't have appreciated my Daniel Smith paints if I had began with them first. But, there really is a difference in student, artist and professional grade paints. Find and use what works for you!
Lastly, I started making and selling my own handmade watercolour paints on Etsy back in June 2021. I hand mull each paint myself using non-toxic artist's grade pigments, gum arabic binder, distilled water, essential oil, vegetable glycerin, and honey on a glass slab. Just like they did in the old days!
My handmade paints are my go to paints now, though I will use my Daniel Smith watercolour set to travel or if I don't have a colour I've made yet. Handmade paints usually have a much higher pigment ratio, meaning each colour really packs a punch. They're not filled with additional extenders or preservatives, so you're really getting what you pay for.
There are other artists on Etsy making their own paint - I highly recommend checking them out for high quality, unique paints.
Okay, so for my extra drawing tools (rulers, erasers, and tapes), I actually do not have any brand loyalty. A ruler is a ruler. I do however make sure to use a clear ruler so I can see my drawing underneath. I am still using my 6" and 12" clear rulers I bought from a Staples or Walmart some years ago.
For tape, I have found artists drafting tape to be too weak to hold watercolour paper properly, and paint seeps underneath the paint, damaging the painting. It's not fun. Instead, I use 1", 1/2", 1/4" and 1/8" painter's tape rolls that you can find in hardware stores or online in sets.
