For most content in Dropbox, shared links are view-only and download-only. However, for files that can be edited in the cloud (like Microsoft, Google, or Paper), it is possible to create shared links that grant the recipient permission to edit. This can be done by setting access to editor in a the shared link settings for a cloud-editable file.

For cloud-editable files like the ones mentioned above, the shared link generated is unique to that content. That means if multiple users create a shared link to the same cloud-editable file it will be the same link. However, that behavior only applies to cloud-editable files.

For most files in Dropbox, any shared links that are generated are unique to a specific user. In other words, the shared link I create to cat_in_a_box.jpg is different than the shared link you create to the same file. This distinction is relevant for team apps.

To determine which files have been shared, you can include the include_has_explicit_shared_members parameter in a /files/list_folder call. The list of files in the response will include a boolean indicating if a file has explicit shares.

By default, the results include members that were explicitly shared and members that were inherited. An inherited member is granted access from a parent folder. This behavior can be turned off with the include_inherited parameter.

You can retrieve a list of files that have been explicitly shared with a user with the /sharing/list_received_files endpoint (and /sharing/list_received_files/continue if the results have been paginated). The list does not include file invitations to files that are unclaimed.

If Dropbox is uploading certain items that are already uploaded to Dropbox, you can remove already uploaded items out of backup source folders. Moreover, you should also take care to avoid uploading the same files or folder via different devices (desktops, laptops, notebooks, or phones).

In general, duplicates are files that have the same name, size, type, and binary data. Occasionally users rename a copy of a file for different reasons, so duplicate files may have different names. However, even when two files have the same title, it does not mean that they are duplicates. Therefore, removing duplicate files is not an easy work for users. But don't worry, you can try to delete duplicate files in Dropbox with the methods below.

3. By default, files are arranged in alphabetical order by name, so you can try to detect duplicate files by their title, size, and type. If you keep the files in folders, you should open each folder, sort the items, and look for duplicates.

4. Once some files with the same size and extension are detected, please check whether their contents are the same. If they are just copies, select the unnecessary files and click Delete on the right menu.

Actually, the manual way is time-consuming and you may misunderstand different files for the same. Even if the name, size, and type of files are the same, this does not guarantee that they are duplicates and have absolutely identical data. And Dropbox has an inaccuracy, as it rounds the value of a file, making two files seem identical even while the file size may differ just by one byte. Therefore, to save time and effort, you can rely on a third-party tool:

5. In the toolbar at the upper part of the interface, click File removal, which will delete all the selected items. Now the Dropbox desktop app will detect and sync the changes. The duplicate files in your Dropbox cloud storage should also be gone.

Since each account offers 2 GB for free, you can register multiple accounts to enjoy countless 2 GB. If you think it is troublesome to manage multiple accounts, you can obtain help from a professional cloud backup service called CBackup.

CBackup is a free cloud backup service that allows you to add and manage multiple cloud storage accounts owning to one or different clouds on one interface. And with a proper strategy, all free space of connected clouds can be combined into a huge, even an unlimited space to store the backup files. Maximum budget savings.

The referenced question/answers did not have complete information. I talked to Dropbox and they very satisfactorily explained that they do not synchronize hidden/system files because those files are used/named differently on different operating systems.

All I know is that Dropbox synchronizes *.dwl and *.dwl2 files (which is helpful to us), but not the .lock.*.ods# files from LibreOffice (which is not helpful to us). I assume that this is a Dropbox design decision to treat that file as a system file that is used/named differently on different operating systems.

Dropbox Team Folders are created by request for groups, teams, or departments. Team Folders are designed to share data that is automatically available to all MCommunity group members. Content in the Team Folder is owned by the MCommunity group, which is also where Team Folder membership is managed. Additionally, sub-folders and files within the Team Folder can be shared with MCommunity groups and/or individuals, as needed, for more granular control. Both files and folders inside a Team Folder can be shared externally.

Blackmagic Cloud Store lets you share your media files globally, eliminating the high cost of collaborating with talented editors and colorists around the world! The Blackmagic Cloud Store is storage that syncs and shares media with Dropbox and Google Drive. It even understands proxy workflows, so a whole timeline and its media can be shared in minutes. The internal memory core is so fast it can saturate the four 10G Ethernet ports to their theoretical maximum speed, even with multiple users connected. File access is very low latency, so responsiveness is fast. That why it's perfect for sharing media between editors, colorists, audio engineers and VFX artists!

The Blackmagic Cloud Store is available in 20 TB, 80 TB and massive 320 TB models, so you have lots of space for all your business files and video media. With video the standard for information delivery in business, that's enough capacity to store all your media in a single location on your network. M.2 flash memory cards are used for extreme reliability, high access speeds and zero seek times. Plus the M.2 cards are arranged in parallel RAID 5 groups so they can operate much faster than a single card. That ensures massive speed combined with fault tolerance. If a faulty M.2 card is detected, the cloud store will automatically enter read only, so you can still access your files.

Now you can setup a local cache of your Dropbox and Google Drive files! This makes working much faster because files are instantly available without needing to be loaded from the internet. Blackmagic Cloud Store will constantly work to stay in sync. Plus you can also save space on your computer by moving cached Dropbox and Google Drive files to the Blackmagic Cloud Store so they are accessible to everyone on your local network. You can even sync multiple Blackmagic Cloud Stores via Dropbox and Google Drive so people in different geographic locations can collaborate without latency because everyone has a local copy of the files. Dropbox and Google Drive are also fantastic backup solutions!

The Blackmagic Cloud Store saves files in a RAID 5 array of M.2 flash memory cards, ensuring protection of your data. Although the flash memory used in Blackmagic Cloud Store is extremely reliable, using RAID 5 adds extra protection! RAID 5 means every 6th M.2 card is used for parity. The parity card holds error correction data that can then be used to rebuild the files after replacing an M.2 card. Plus the Blackmagic Cloud Store memory will automatically wear level, avoiding excessive data writes to the same location. It even has dual power supplies so it will keep operating if a power supply fails! All parts are common, allowing the Blackmagic Cloud Store to be repaired.

Modern laptop computers are so thin, they often don't even have an Ethernet connection! That means you need an adapter to connect to an Ethernet network. These adapters are annoying and they make it harder to just plug your computer into the storage to grab a file. Blackmagic Cloud Store has a USB-C to Ethernet adapter built in and you can access it simply by plugging your computer into the USB-C port on the store. Plus USB-C cables are much nicer than stiff Ethernet cables! Once you have connected the Blackmagic Cloud Store USB-C connection to your computer, you have an Ethernet connection to the store! That means you can just plug in to quickly grab files when you need them urgently!

The two USB-C ports on the Blackmagic Cloud Store can be used for loading and backup of files. If you connect a media card reader or a USB-C disk to the ingest port, then all files on that disk will be loaded into the cloud store. This means you don't need to tie up computers just to load files. Backup is also important and while Dropbox and Google Drive are good backup solutions, by connecting a USB disk to the backup port, you can do local backups without any ongoing costs and with total privacy. It works with a USB-C disk, or even large USB-C disk arrays. The latest files will be loaded first and the Blackmagic Cloud Store will keep backing up for as long as the disk is connected.

When you need to change settings, you can use the Blackmagic Cloud Store utility that's available on Mac and Windows. By default, the Blackmagic Cloud Store is set to DHCP, so you can connect it to your network and start transferring files. In many ways, it plugs in just like a regular hard disk. That means it's so easy to setup, you won't need an IT person to get started! However if you want to customize your network, then the utility software lets you change the network settings in the cloud store. The utility also lets you add Dropbox and Google Drive sync folders. If you ever replace M.2 memory cards, then the utility also lets you run a rebuild on the memory core.
