can the atoms be labeled/tagged in different styles?

Hi,

In case of say a primitive bcc structure, is it possible to label atoms on different layers of atoms with different symbols and colors? So far I can only label the selected atoms with plus sign, and cannot select another set of atoms with a different sign or color while maintaining the current selection.
