Dear all,

I have recently stumbled across this problem: The structure window in Vesta is ALWAYS just black (no structure shown, even if I import a structure etc.).

This reminded me of a problem I encountered in another software, where only the screen went black.
Turned out the other software was using quick time viewer for displaying the window and due to some changes in Win11 or graphics drivers the older version of qt would not work properly anymore.

But not sure this is the same problem here.

What I so far tried to solve the problem:
I tried reinstalling version v.3.5.8 (manually deleting the vesta folder) unpacking the v.3.5.8 (fresh downloaded)
I tried updating to v.3.90.5a
I tried running vesta as administrator
But the problem persists. I cannot render any structures any more. This is really annoying at the moment.

Any suggestions what to do?

Running this on Win11, Laptop with an AMD CPU with integrated graphics.

Best

Stefan

This is what Vesta states in the output window:
OpenGL version: 4.6.0 Compatibility Profile Context 25.8.1.250617
Video configuration: AMD Radeon (TM) Graphics
Maximum supported width and height of the viewport: 16384 x 16384
OpenGL depth buffer bit: 16

I wonder if it has a similar root/cause like this:

I will try changing around transparency settings tomorrow...and report back

I cannot find a solution to the issue. No changes to transparancy settings helped.
I can't believe it is a graphics driver issue, as that component did not change. What changed where some windows updates. But I obviously can't roll back these.
I hope somebody has an idea what to try?

Ha...

Finally after doing a GPU Driver reinstallation I realized that I CUSTOM set the OpenGL-Triple Buffering feature to ENABLED in the GPU driver settings. (See the 2nd lowest entry in the graphic settings menu in my german windows it reads "OpenGL-Dreifachpufferung".

THIS causes the black screen in Vesta. If you set this feature to ENABLED (which usually is good to reduce screen lag)....it causes Vesta to load a black screen.
If you set it to DISABLED - Vesta v3.5.8 64bit works as usual and shows a white screen with the vesta logo and version number displaying.
