change colour and label of two single atoms in a diamond structure

hey everybody,
I want to display the atomic structure of an NV-center (nitrogen vacancy center) in diamond.
I created a simple diamond crystal structure and now change the label and the colour of two atoms in the structure, but it won't display it.
Putting a nitrogen atom in the lattice doesn't work either.
I input 8 atoms in the structure to control every atom in the lattice individually, but it doesn't respond and display anything, if I label them with different names. It only shows the name of the first input.

Any idea, how to deal with that? Or any idea how a can put any single impurity atom in a crystal lattice via vesta?

Hi Erik,

When you set up the structure with 8 separate atoms, did you remove the crystal symmetry?  You can do this at 'Edit | Edit Data | Unit Cell...'

Once you've done that, you should be able to change the label of each atom independently in the 'Structure Parameters' tab of the same window.  You can change the colour and radius of each atom, as well as whether the label is displayed, in the 'Objects' tab in the left hand pane of the main window.

Hey Philip,
yes I did remove the crystal symmetry and change the colour in the 'Objects' panel, but it didn't worked, unfortunatley. I don't know why, but it simple did nothing. I also changed the atoms in the 'Edit structure' window, but nothing happend.
But I found another, non-elegant solution to create this picture by overlaying different pictures with different atom colours in an external photo program.

Hi Erik,

I'm glad you have a workaround for now.  I'm attaching a file in which I've changed the colour and size of only one atom within a structure, as an example, in case that's helpful.
