Hello,

I used vesta 3.5.8 to visualize the attached cif of g-C3N4 downloaded from C2DB, but it was shown incorrectly. There were too many atoms displayed outside the unit cell. How can I solve it?

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Leran

Leran,
I'm not a pro with VESTA but I hope this will be helpful.
It is not incorrect. Your structure has 14 atoms. You can see that in: edit -> edit data -> structure parameters.
VESTA often displays additional atoms or periodic images of the unit cell. You can go ahead and delete them using the "select tool".

If you're looking to familiarize yourself with VESTA, I highly recommend this YouTube channel:

Hi David,

Thank you for the reply. I understand what you mean. But I think there are just too many atoms outside the unit cell, especially when the supercell of this structure is displayed. Is there a way to show the atoms in the unit cell and some around it, rather than the entire periodic images?

Best regards,
Leran

Hi Leran,

Try: Edit---Bonds, there is an option called boundary mode. Choose the first or the second option. That may make sense.

Best Regards

Yike
