Does anyone know how to export an image so that the background color is a 'true' white and not a grayish/opaque color. I want to make high quality figures, but when using the exported VESTA images in any other software to build/manipulate them, they carry with them a tinged white background color.

Thanks,
j.s.

To further clarify: The issue is with antialiasing. When the image is antialiased it seems the rasterized image exported has a greyish tinge to the background. Is there a way to set the background to transparent?

Hi,
I suppose you are exporting images onto eps. You will find "0" as black and "255" as white in your file, instead of "256". It's an old issue set by Adobe and I have no idea why they do not assign 256 as "the brightest" on postscript file.
There seems to be two solutions, 1) sanitize your image with graphic editing software such as gimp or 2) edit your eps file, I'm not quite sure if the latter is OK.

Excuse me. Not "sanitize" but "bleach"

While it won't help you, for those that are interested it is possible to change the background colour.

view -> overall appearance -> background colour
