Dear Dhamma Brothers and Sisters,

I am writing to you all to ask you for your kind support and 10
minutes of your time only.

Some of you may have known that a large amount of the Sacred Relics of
Buddha are currently kept in National Museum in Delhi, India.

There are 2 types of Buddha Relics: Intacted and Non-Intacted. The
ones in the Delhi Museum are intacted which are really rare and
sacred.

Guruji (S.N.Goenka), our dhamma father, has been trying very hard to
convince the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for a long time
to re-place the Relics in proper places.

Before he passed away, the Lord Buddha's attendant asked how his bone
relics were to be treated after the cremation. He said that his relics
should be enshrined within a stupa, at the cross-roads (prominent
place) in the capital city, where people can offer garlands, perfumes,
powders and worship and delight and purify their mind with devotion,
which will lead to their benefit and happiness for a long time. Thus,
all Buddhist countries follow his instruction. For example, some of
the Buddha's relics in Thailand are enshrined at the Temple of the
Emerald Buddha in the Grand Palace in Bangkok, in Myanmar at the
Shwedagon in Rangoon, and in the Temple of Tooth in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

The relics should not be kept in a museum.

If you agree, I would like to ask each of your to kindly spare 10 mins
of your time to write and send a letter to the Government of India.

I believe that this is our Guruji's last wish. He has built the Global
Pagoda to hold 10,000 -12,000 meditators and this Buddha Relics issue
is his last.

I went to attend 1-day vipassana at the Global Pagoda just before it
was officially opened. We were very lucky to have an opportunity to
see him in person. Tears of gratitude came down on our faces, without
him, we would not have come in contact with pure dhamma.

I, for one, is in deep debt to Goenkaji. There is no way I can repay
him besides from keep walking on this path and spread dhamma as much
as I can.

In 2007, we have sent letters already but no response from Government
of India. This year, Guruji would like us to help pressing the issue
one more time.

Again, if you see that Buddha Relics should be placed at pagodas and
stupas in this world, please kindly write a letter and send to
Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Indian Embassy in your country.

Please kindly scan and email me the letter, if you do not mind since I
will forward to my country teacher who will forward to Guruji later.

I hope all is well with you.

I hope you continue walking on the path of liberation.

I wish you all true peace, happiness and total liberation.

with best wishes,

meow
