Thisclass helps to develop reading skills by working on accuracy and fluency of reading. It is divided into three levels - beginning, intermediate and advanced. By the end of the advanced level, a reader should be able to open any page of the mus-haf and read it quickly and correctly.
At the Intermediate level, the student has become much more confident in their reading ability and is able to read without much help from the teacher. They would be learning how to identify tajweed rules and apply them (even though they may not know the names of the tajweed rules). The emphasis at this level is on building fluency and speed of reading.
At the Advanced level, the student is expected to be a fluent and accurate reader who is able to implement basic rules of tajweed as they read. Under the guidance of the teacher, they would complete at least one complete reading of the entire Quran during the academic year. The goal of this level is to expose the student to the whole Quran and help them develop a sense of familiarity with the surahs in it, in order to prepare them to start a memorization program.
