favicon.svg and FaviconHandler

Hi all.

All new browsers nowadays provide support for beautiful SVG-icons, like here.

Can the FaviconHandler be used for that somehow? As I understood it reacts on "/favicon.ico" URL path.

What is the best practice with it? Can a favicon.svg be delivered with it?

Hi,

In theory, the favicon handler could handle any request that matches the route definition.

But it doesn't work like this: it verifies the path before handling the request: https://github.com/vert-x3/vertx-web/blob/2d66198b88b2b01a17e4149b79e5018b0644db9e/vertx-web/src/main/java/io/vertx/ext/web/handler/impl/FaviconHandlerImpl.java#L193

Would you mind filing an issue with the details?

Hmm, after taking another look at the whole thing, it doesn't make much sense for FaviconHandler to render something other than a good-ol' .ico file.
