You might want to download VizTool tool to graph the steps in an explain plan. This software was mentioned in the Vertica Bootcamp class.

Viztool is an internal Vertica tool that is not licensed for customer
use. We are working on the Management Console to provide the same type
of information. It is one of our top priorities. Don't forget to
use the my.vertica forums too! :)
