For many people, Yakult is a nostalgic drink from their childhood. I grew up begging my mom to get a pack of Yakult from the local Asian grocery store once in a while as a treat, after being drawn to the tiny and cute bottles. My favourite way to drink it was to freeze it so that it would turn into a slushy.

This soju yakult sprite drink combines one of my favourite alcoholic spirits with this delicious yogurt drink. Soju and yakult go together so well! It's fruity, tart, and sweet at the same time. The Sprite adds some bubbles to bring the whole drink together.

Soju is a Korean distilled alcohol made with rice or other starches, with the largest manufacturer of soju being Jinro. Soju tastes most similar to vodka with slightly less burn and a lower alcohol content of about 20% ABV. Along with the original (chamisul) flavour, many sweet and fruity flavours are now available and preferable for drinking straight or mixing drinks.

Yakult is a sweetened yogurt drink that is made by fermenting skimmed milk with probiotics. The Yakult brand of yogurt drink originates from Japan but similar drinks are produced in other countries such as Wahaha from China, Betagen from Thailand, and Epoca Cool Plus in America.

Regardless of the brand, Yakult is known for its recognizable tiny bottle and foil wrapper lid. The taste is sweet and milky with a tart and dry mouthfeel. In addition to its delicious, citrusy flavour, it's also good for gut health and digestion.

Soju flavours - Change up the Soju for a different flavour. Use chamisul (original flavour) if you don't want any sweetness or fruitiness. Most other flavours of Soju work well when paired with Yakult such as peach, strawberry, mango, and apple.

Adjust to your liking - You can adjust the level of ice, amount of alcohol, and amount of Yakult to taste. Use more or less Soju for a stronger or weaker cocktail. Use 1 bottle of Yakult instead of 2 if you want a more subtle yogurt flavour.

Try this white and blue labelled bottle drink called "Calpis" which to me taste very similar to Yakult. Any local Asian store will have them, I even bought them all the time at the 7 Eleven store when they stock them last year, not sure about now.

I don't knwo the brand, but some chinese groceries stock 'yoghurt drink' takes a few goes to figure out which one, but once you nail it, it's literally yakult drink in a larger 200ml (approx) bottle. I can't really describe what it looks like, kind of white bottle with blue highlights (not calpis haha) and shaped like a yakult bottle, just bigger. Had many of those in Hong kong as normal drink back when my body used to metabolise like a 14 year old kid.

There are others are well, as above vitagen (but not sure their bottles are that big) and to add insult to injury, Yakult actually sells larger bottle overseas instead of the pissy little ones we get here!

Yakult is a probiotic health drink, which contains more than 8 billion beneficial bacteria (Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota). Many scientific papers have been published and there are many evidences that the bacteria in Yakult are resistant to gastric juices and bile and reach the intestine alive. Daily consumption of Yakult helps improve digestion and helps build immunity.

According to our studies, 80 ml of Yakult contains sufficient beneficial bacteria (8 billion Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota) to favourably impact the balance of the gut flora for all age groups. If you wish to consume more than a bottle, as part of a normal balanced diet, you can consume it.

YAKULT and yogurt are both fermented dairy products made from milk fermented with live bacteria. YAKULT is unique because it is made using Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain with live bacteria, not the strain of bacteria used in yogurts.

In 1930, Dr. Minoru Shirota succeeded in strengthening and culturing a strain of lactic acid bacteria that can survive digestive juices, such as gastric fluid and bile, reach the intestines alive, and produce beneficial effects. This strain is now known as Lactobaicillus casei strain Shirota named after Dr. Shirota himself. In 1935, Yakult was manufactured & sold in Japan.

Yakult Central Institute was established in the year 1967 in Tokyo. All major research & developmental activities in the field of Probiotics are carried each day by hundreds of scientists working there. After a major renovation, the Institute got its new face in 2015.

Have you ever drunk a cold Yakult? In fact, there is a better way to do it: adding milk to the drink. The ice yakult lychee milk recipe will explain how to make cold, fresh yakult with Arummi cashew milk.
