Okay, so this is probably due to the new 17.3 update as I didn't have any issues until today after updating. When someone sends me a picture, I cannot see it no matter what as if I click it, it shows media no longer available but I see everyone is having the issue

Mine was doing this as well but i found in settings that the cloud had new terms and conditions that i needed to accept. As soon as i did that messenger could access the cloud and all the photos were visable again. Didnt need to reinstall anything and didnt lose any messages. Hope this helps others as well.

Since downloading the Apple iso 17.0 onto my Iphone 11 Pro my Facebook Messenger app won't open. When I try to open the app It just disappears, but shows as an open app, but just with messenger logo in the middle of the screen. I have tried reinstalling the app numerous times and also resetting the network settings.

I have the same problem. It works fine on my iPad with iOS 17 but not on my iPhone 12. Tried deleting the app and re-installing but the problem remains. Next thought was to reset the phone and reinstall everything or just revert back to iOS 16, but have decided to wait a while and see if Facebook and / or Apple get this sorted. The amount of time iOS 17 has been in use by testers as a beta, and still it falls on its face.

Thanks all, the fix is simply, go into phone settings-Display & Brightness-Text Size, make your text size slightly smaller and Messenger is up and running again. I have posted same to Report Problem with Meta/Facebook.

After the 17.1.1 I could not able to see the Facebook active status. Is it because of new version also I am not sure. On the messenger list I can see green dot next to my friend name but inside their page on top there is no status, is it because of new software update ? Anyone can advise me

As of today the Messenger App on my iPhone 11 Pro Max is shutting down before it even opens. I cannot access it through Facebook either. I have rebooted my phone and it is still not initiating. It will also not open through the App Store.

I went into app store, searched for FB messenger and there was an option to update, so i tapped on that, the little circle went round..... then it offered 'open' so I did, and it's now working. I have closed and reopened it a couple of times, and it's all good.

When I open Messenger in my iPhone settings, and go to Photos, there is no option to allow full access. Only "None" or "add photos only". When I try to attach a photo in messenger, it tells me I have to go to my settings, even though "add photos only" is selected.

But Apple limiting its iMessage platform to those within its walled garden has been much criticized, especially when it appeared this was a decision more commercial than technical in the making. And so its semi-reversal, to seemingly bow to pressure and enable iMessage users to text cross-platform using the RCS standard being pushed by Google across the Android ecosystem, was very welcome.

The Beeper drama does mean that Apple users are well advised to use a different platform as their day-to-day messenger. WhatsApp would be my recommended go-to, given it does seem to focus on security and privacy above all else, and most of the people you know will have it installed. For even more secure messaging, use Signal.

ADP is in fact such a significant step in the right direction, that my hope is there will be a common sense meeting of minds at Google and Apple, coming together to deliver that level of security for cross-platform messaging. Anything else would be a real shame, leaving users exposed for some time to come.

If you have both Facebook iPhone app and Facebook messenger app installed in your iPhone, I noticed that, as long as you are logged in in the Facebook app, Facebook messenger app knows who you are immediately!

A suite of iOS applications can use Keychain Access sharing to share credential information. You cannot, however, share a database on the device. You would need to either create one monolithic app, or store the shared data off-device.

Basically this is done using Single Sign-On (SSO) feature of the Facebook iOS SDK. According to the facebook developer documentation, ,it states that if the user already has the Facebook app of version greater than 3.2.3 installed and that the iOS device of the user supports multitasking, then basically the app (the facebook messenger in this case) can ask for the current logged in user information from the main Facebook program.

"One of the most compelling features of the iOS SDK is Single-Sign-On (SSO). SSO lets users sign into your app using their Facebook identity. If they are already signed into the Facebook iOS app on their device they do not have to even type a username and password. Further, because they are signing to your app with their Facebook identity, you can get permission from the user to access to their profile information and social graph"

"If the app is running in a version of iOS that supports multitasking, and if the device has the Facebook app of version 3.2.3 or greater installed, the SDK attempts to open the authorization dialog within the Facebook app. After the user grants or declines the authorization, the Facebook app redirects back to the calling app, passing the authorization token, expiration, and any other parameters the Facebook OAuth server may return."

I'm new to Fitbit and have the charge 3! I'm looking for some advice on how to set up notifications from WhatsApp and or Facebook messenger to my watch? I'm using an iPhone and have read some conflicting info on whether this is possible?

@Aloishere Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for posting the situation you are experiencing with the Whatsapp option not showing when trying to set it up for your Charge 3. It should work fine for an iPhone 7.

Ever since I updated my Fitbit charge 3 a few days ago, it does not stay connected to my iPhone and it get the message Bluetooth pairing failed call notifications and all-day sync are disabled for now. I still can manually sync.

I have a Galaxy S6 and Fitbit charge. I am getting notifications from all my desired apps except for the ringing of the phone. I thought when I first set it up it worked. Now when I go to select apps for notification the telephone isn't one of them. Help?

Hi! I am still having an issue getting any all notifications sent to my new fitbit charge 3. I've gone into the account settings on the fitbit app and into the notifications section, but it won't pair once I get into the notifications section, nor does it give me the option to turn on any notifications in regards to phone calls, text messages, or facebook messenger. So it doesn't give me the option to turn on any of these settings. I have a LG Stylo 4 that has Android 8.1. Please let me know if there is anything I can try.

Hi guys. I have a Samsung Note 3. I'm having an issue which started recently where Facebook Messenger video messages that I send do not have any sound. When I press and hold the video record button in the app and then release the button to replay a recording there is a slight click sound and then total silence throughout the video. Oh my dad that the camera works perfectly in the phone and all videos work as they should. I've done absolutely everything I can think of including uninstalling both Facebook and the messenger app, reinstalling, clearing cache for the apps, clearing cache for the phone, wiping your phone to factory settings and reinstalling everything and a few others to no avail. Any ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated as I'm totally fed up with this issue. TIA

I am having the exact same issue. I can record video with the app no problem but there is no audio. I can record audio with other apps and can even record audio clips separately with the voice recorder included with Messenger. I have tried the things you have mentioned and am coming up blank.
My thoughts are that maybe it is a glitch with the current update, as this has only recently started happening.

Hi Ivan. Thanks for your response. I was starting to wonder if I'm the only one having this issue. For now I'm not going to do anything drastic like buy another phone and just live with it. I have to say I'm dussappinted both samsung and fb haven't been very helpful with no reply from fb and samsung telling me my phone needs to go in for a repair assessment. )let's hope it gets sorted sometime soon. Thanks again.

Hi Ivan thank you for the heads up but unfortunately no update as company come through on my phone yet so I did a uninstall and reinstall and the problem is still there very frustrating hopefully and update will come through on my Google account maybe it has something to do with the way Google distributes updates or something I'm not sure

Had this problem on iPhone.
My FB and IG sent messages and there is no sound. I switched on the Silent switch and the app notification option. I then used Joyoshare UltFix to fix the problem without any data loss.
