Our descriptions are sometimes quite long and for readability I
insert blank lines. When I export the list to Excel, it creates
multiple rows for every line break. This creates problems when sorting
or just when one wants to quickly format the excel sheet.

- Is V1 going to correct this behaviour?
- Does anybody know of a work around to the problem?

Thanks,

Thomas

I asked about this at one point, and the short answer was, "it's not a bug,
it's a feature!" :>

Seriously though, if a workaround has been discovered, I'd love to hear it.

This is purely the result of how Excel deals with html. Descriptions in V1 are html rich text, and when you open html in excel that has paragraph tags or line breaks it breaks it across rows. There is a good description in another thread:

Ahh, I used to give such answers to my customers, too.

The problem is: the export is not satisfactory and as a user, I have
an interest in getting clean exports that allow for simply formatting.
I am sure there is a technical solution to this.

I am not a Dev, but what about this: http://aspalliance.com/518 ?

Cheers,

Thomas

Could we have export in csv? Excel understand that and it's much simpler....

Both interesting ideas (csv and the aspalliance article). I’ll submit this in to the product team J

I agree with Thomas. I think we know it's an excel problem, but
anything V1 can do to help will help it's users.

It definitely would help if this could be improved based on the
suggestions above.

Just found this:

Looks there is another pitfall to avoid
