When our developers check in code for specific back log and defect items, we have them enter in the version one backlog or defect number and then a description as to what they fixed exactly. Currently this information is getting added to each defect under the change set field.

Is there a way to get the change set information to appear in an excel export of all the items included in a release? Or is there a better way to do this, our end goal is a spreadsheet that we can use for our release notes and our test cases.

Thanks,

Rob,

There is a Change Set Quicklist report in the Sprint Reports section.
You can customize and add other information and then export to excel.

If this does not provide the information you need another option is
extracting the data through the API. Here is a link to all the
information and example queries: http://community.versionone.com/sdk/Documentation/CoreAPI.aspx

Are you requirements managed in an external system or in V1? If in V1
what type of V1 object holds requirements (e.g. Requests, Feature
Groups, etc.)?

Requirements are stored in a separate word document. Stories and Test cases are stored in V1.

I'd agree with Teresa then, you'll want some kind of hyperlink if you
need an active ability to jump between them - not sure if you can have
that hyperlink take you to the Word paragraph number though. If you just
need a referential relationship you could just put the req document
paragraph number in the Test object's reference field.

I was actually planning to have some kind of stats reported on the no. of requirements tested, No. of test cases failed on which requirements and such..
