The Epson TM 88 Bon printer stops time and again when the receipt or receipt is printed. The Epson also jerky and sometimes the bon goes out but often not.
I first thought it is because of the printer and have exchanged the model TM81, but without Result, anyone an idea what that can be? I use the softare 3.70.
this is my 2nd question, i can easily update this version to a higher like 4.x, so that all data and attitudes are taken over? Thank you for help.
I've already tried that, uninstalled the epson driver and then discontinued as you recommended. But then some nonsense was printed and the cash drawer did not open. I need a detailed guide, which driver do I have to install, which attitude, thank you very much.
can it also be the version of unicenta? Regardless, can I install a higher version over the older one, and all settings and product entries are preserved? how should I proceed, which version do you recommend?
I do have pretty like the same problem but my printer is USB
Ok uninstall windows driver and use OPOS
OK select Epson > ok select file > which port should I select for USB printer?
Thanx in advance
The same receipt printers are "working" with RMS but the width of the receipt is only approx. 3/4 of the receipt printer paper. We also have very large blank space at the beginning and end of the receipt.
I can't find the drivers for these printers anywhere on the net but have read that others have used compatible drivers for Epson in place of any Javelin specific drivers. I'm fairly sure from what i've read that they are not OPOS compatible so i need windows drivers. I also have one PC that is W7 64 bit so dont want to go OPOS route at all. Current partner is suggesting that we may need to move the W7 PC to 32 bit so we can pursue OPOS option.
Unfortunately I had to revert to buying new printers to sort out the problem. Was going to cost more in support hours stuffing around than to just buy a couple of printers. Appreciate your reply here - it may help someone else in the future.
First of all, I've seen Javelin JP-88 printers working with EPSON Windows drivers. You need Epson TM88 IV windows drivers, if you can't find them on the net, I can mail them to you, please contact me. But, please first try the drivers that funkychilli recomended in his reply.
Now, on your comment on RMS throwing "unknown printer" errors, pleasew check your RMS Store Ops configuration, on File / Configuration / Options tab. Under POS Options, please check the checkbox "Share the OPOS printer with other applications".
Update - we managed to get the Epson OPS drivers installed on the W7 PC and the printer was working for a while and then started to throw "unknown printer" errors before packing it in entirely and no longer recognising the cash drawer or printing receipts full stop. We reverted back to the Windows/Generic Text driver to get receipts at least printing- albeit long, and not formatted 100% correctly.
My question is how can I connect it to the Square register and have it show up. I have tried multiple ways I.E. changing the dip switches, resetting the interface. Still nothing. Originally it had a U03 usb interface installed. It showed up in Square as a TM-88 but would not print. After I installed the new Ethernet interface it didn't even show up. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
I finally got it to work. Ive been spending a month on this trying to see if it is compatible. I was able to finally get the TM-U220 to show up on the config. Firstly I had an extra router that I connected to my computer, to the access point for internet and to the printer itself. I then changed the IP address from 192.168.192.168 to 192.168.192.167. Turned on the square register with WiFi on and it picked it up.
I do appreciate the help with that in leading me in the correct direction. Its very frustrating that I know for a fact that the combination of the interface and the printer are compatible with square. Regardless it is all working now and no issues at all. Hopefully this thread will help anyone who is in a similar situation that I was in since the information around the web was not fully correct to this specific situation. A bunch of bits and pieces that I combined through trial and error. Again that you very much for the help @DairyDepot
Sorry to hear you're running into this issue. I had a look at our hardware compatibity page and I'm not seeing the Epson TM-U220D listed there, however sometimes these printers have different names located on the bottom of them so it would be good just to double check that (possibly TM88 which is on the list).
@jgitch - I am nearly certain the Square app looks at the model name of the printer and compares it to a list of printers before it prints, regardless of you using the recommended UB-E03. Possibly, this is how it selects its driver. Download EpsonNet Config, it will give you access to the model name field that I don't believe you can get to in the WebConfig. Change the model number back to TM-88 and you should be able to discover it again.
This is likely how square determines what driver/config to use so if TM-88 is discoverable, but doesn't print you may need to try another printer name using the compatibility list to see if your printer is close enough to an approved printer to actually print. I don't see any in a similar family name on the list, but if you do some trial and error you may be able to get that printer going. I would start with the TM-T88's.
Also tried to add the printer as a windows printer using the advanced printer driver 4 which installs and creates an LPT1 port, but although listed in printers and faxes within windows, the error says no connection. I also tried to add the printer as a serial port COM1 but the same problem within Windows.
If you are using a serial interface to the printer that may be causing some of the delay. It seems to me that the receipt should print as fast as the Z report, so I would make one last look through the receipt properties and make sure that all fonts are set to Epson built-in fonts (maybe I missed one), the thinking here being that the receipt may be using a font that the Z report is not, thus slowing the receipt.
Z Report is like machine gun fire. standard receipts are slow off the mark, but then quite quick. Much improved!! I would say that the till receipts take about 10 seconds to print. They are much happier.
Marc, Youre and absolute genius!! Printer and cash drawer working, but the printing speed is REALLY slow. Is there any way of speeding up the printer, as the cash drawer opens immediately after transaction....but then you have to wait 1 minute for the receipt to print.
I am attempting to connect an EPSON TM-T88IIIP printer (which features a Parallel port) to a POS machine that only features USB ports. Towards this end I have purchased and installed an ATEN UC-1284B USB to Parallel cable / converter.
In Windows 7 I am confident that I have installed the correct EPSON printer, and additionally I have installed the EPSON Virtual Printer Driver. Finally I have configured the Port for the Virtual Printer with the EPSON software as shown below.
Yes, I saw that in the manual. That means that Windows 7 has the driver built in, so no need for you to add anything from a disk. It still needs to install when you plug the cable in, though. And it should show up as indicated on the next page as Virtual printer port for USB.
My appologies for the late response. I have tried the cable on a second computer, and unfortunately there is still no printing taking place. When I look at Device Manager I do so an entry as follows -
I found another reference that appears to be more complete. It seems the APG (Application Program Guide) is no longer being published as of v10.05 (which is the one I have), and it does not appear to contain references to the 88V (it mentions 88IV however).
Tried digging around the Epson drivers themselves, and found that the Advance Printer Driver 5 displays the feature more prominently in the second tab, whilst in APD version 4, the buzzer is hidden under some settings. In both versions of the driver you can get them to work though, through a regular windows print job, however not from POS.
