Seasons Greetings !

This note is an initial solicitation for articles, season summaries, field notes, book reviews, photos, announcements, news articles, etc. for the next VES Newsletter.

Materials, etc. are due by February 7th. Please send to our editor, Melissa Willaims:
melissawi...@gmail.com

note: for those that do not have email, etc. you can send hard copy to me at
630 Beaver Meadow Rd., Marshfield, VT 05658

I would like to announce that we had a very successful campaign for t-shirt illustrations. We had at least twenty entries to the contest and it was hard making selections. The winners will be announced in our next newsletter. And pray tell maybe we will have some t-shirts made this year

You did not hear from us on giving Tuesday, but I do want to remind everyone that we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and to please consider us in your tax deduction donations etc.

As we are also coming to the close of the year, please renew your memberships. Vermont Entomological Society Inc., is a membership organization.

You can renew your membership or make donations by sending a check to our treasurer:
Deb Kiel, 147 Allen Irish Rd, Underhill, VT 05489

or via paypal:

Also, the Vermont Entomological Society Google Group has been relatively dormant for some time. Some consideration has been given to retiring the group, but I thought that maybe we could use it as a more timely way of communicating with each other as society members. Though we currently do have a Facebook page we really don’t have a means to communicate in a timely manner.  So I would like to encourage folks to join/use the group for announcements, daily activities, etc. and see how that works. Speaking of announcements, Bernie Paquette is looking for a copy/copies of the following books: Insects: Their Natural History and Diversity: With a Photographic Guide to Insects of Eastern North America by Marshall, Stephen(June 1, 2006) and Borror and White- Insects-Peterson Field Guide-1970. As well as a used stereo microscope by spring to use in a pending Bugmobile program. Hopefully we’ll hear more about Bernie’s plans in the next newsletter. You can contact him at: bernie....@yahoo.com

We hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and we are certainly wishing everyone the best for the upcoming Holidays and New year !
