We’re reaching out to the community to help ensure that more children can participate in the Bug Huggers Adventure Camp this summer.
Thanks to strong interest, we currently have eight paid registrants. We’ve also received requests for six scholarships. To date, we’ve been able to fund three full scholarships ($280 each), and we’re now seeking donations to support three additional campers needing assistance.
Why this matters
Bug
Huggers Adventure Camp offers a unique, hands-on experience that
connects young people with the natural world through the fascinating
study of insects. For many participants, this is more than just a
camp—it’s an opportunity to develop curiosity, confidence, and a deeper
understanding of ecosystems right here in Vermont.
About the camp
The camp grew out of the Vermont Entomology Academy (VEA),
founded in 2025 to connect people with nature through the world of
insects. From summer field observations to mobile outreach, VEA fosters
learning that is curious, connected, and alive.
After developing the program, founder Bernie Paquette transitioned ownership to Saint Michael’s College under the leadership of Professor Declan McCabe, while continuing to serve as a facilitator.
How you can help
We
are seeking contributions of any amount to fund three additional full
scholarships. Your support will directly enable local children to access
an enriching outdoor science experience they might not otherwise have.
