to Vermont Burners
Now that there are more than a few members here, I figured I'd post an
intro, and everyone else is encouraged to do so also. One of the
things we do on the Florida list, is all members receive a long (way
too long) questionnaire to fill out so we get to know you a bit. We
talk about shortening it, but it never happens.

It asks things like, do you think thunderstorms are cool or scary, do
you get along with your parents, do you like vanilla or chocolate,
it's fun to read people's responses.

Anyway, I'm here for a few reasons, I live in Florida and am one of
the Regional Contacts down here. I'm from Queens, NY and Lake George,
NY, and since VT is only an hour away from Lake George, I spent many
days driving around the state, and visiting Northshire Books in
Manchester, one of the few independently owned bookstores left. I've
been to most of the states and Vermont is still my favorite.

I would like to be living up there within a year, but not sure if I
can make that happen, I own a house here in Florida, and the selling
market isn't very good right now, and I like my job, and they are
paying for my college.

So, if anyone hears of a place, an apartment or house for rent to
start, somewhere in southern VT, please let me know.

I'm also here, because I went to Firefly and met the amazingly awesome
Mason, who lives in Wilder. He bought my spare Firefly ticket and
rode with me and let me be his roomie for the weekend, so I didn't
have to fly a tent up with me! Did any of you get to meet him at
Firefly? I was telling people to look for the sharpest dressed man at
night and that's him.

He and a few other VTers I met at Firefly, all expressed an interest
in getting a VT community together, so I offered to help start it
out. I want my favorite favorite state to have a BM community! I was
quite surprised to find out there isn't one.

I'm hoping to fly up again sometime in late Sept or Oct for a weekend,
to go apartment/house hunting and check out the towns. Housing, at
any price, seems hard to come by up there.

Remember, you don't need a regional contact to plan get togethers.
One thing that always comes up in FL, is the newer people, start asking
when the next event is going to be, and our answer is usually
"whenever you decide to plan it, let us know and we will be there".

Hope to meetchy'all someday!
Donna
