Im trying to add links to my timeline and running into a little problem. When trying to add =hyperlink("www.cwisbg.com";"my site") to my timeline the link dosnt work. there is only text and no link. On the flip side simply putting www.cwisbg.com creats a link just fine.
Q. How can i add links to my google spreadsheet doc so that it can have a nicer/descriptive name

The problem was in my syntax, i guess i wanted HTML link in there, not a google spreadsheet hyperlink. <a href="http://www.cwisbg.com" target="_blank">my site</a>

Yes, use HTML for everything but the "media" and "media thumbnail" columns.
