Because of constraints imposed by Google, TimelineJS simply doesn't work on Google sites.

Sorry

I can't speak to what other people in your class are doing, but this is an answer I have sent previously to the Google Group:

"Google Sites does not allow embedding iframes which load data from any other web site: this is a general web security option which they've chosen to enable.

This means that you can't use the simple Timeline embed tool. I am not sure to what extent Google Sites allows you to use your own JavaScript on a page, so it may or may not be possible to get it working using the more manual method."

What I am trying to say is we are all using the exact same site and the exact same format and it is working for some but not working for others

I suggest you get together with some of your fellow students who have it working and compare to see what's different then. There's no way for us to help you without any visibility into what's not working.

Did you ever get it to work? I am having the same issue

So, since this original exchange, I made a simple Google Sites website and embedded a timeline.

The one change I had to make from the basic copy/paste operation was to change the beginning part of the "src" attribute in the iframe embed
From
To

That is,
<iframe src='http://cdn.knightlab.com/libs/timeline/latest/embed/index.html?source=0Agl_Dv6iEbDadHdKcHlHcTB5bzhvbF9iTWwyMmJHdkE&font=Bevan-PotanoSans&maptype=toner&lang=en&height=650' width='100%' height='650' frameborder='0'></iframe>
To
<iframe src='https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn.knightlab.com/libs/timeline/latest/embed/index.html?source=0Agl_Dv6iEbDadHdKcHlHcTB5bzhvbF9iTWwyMmJHdkE&font=Bevan-PotanoSans&maptype=toner&lang=en&height=650' width='100%' height='650' frameborder='0'></iframe>

Of course, what comes after the "?" in the src attribute will be unique to every Timeline.

It's not ideal, but it is hard to know how to change the embed generator to make it more clear when it only applies in some cases.

Best
Joe
