For Windows on a Mac you'd have to own a Windows retail system installer with keycode, and use BootCamp utility in the Mac OS X to set up a partition on the computer hard disk drive (issues? if you have Apple Fusion Drive where a SSD + HDD are automatically co-joined) and then install the Windows system there.

Or get & use Parallels, or VMFusion software and use it along with Windows to run applications written for a Windows OS. And would need to have a large internal hard disk drive with plenty of room since the space for Windows takes away space for Mac OS X and its applications to run; and also you'd need plenty of chip RAM installed to run this other System plus software... and for Windows, its own anti-virual software not needed at all in a Mac.

Or don't want to buy the upscale or pro Apple image software that does a fine job at a cost. I'd try & avoid running Windows in a Mac even though it can run three or more different OS, including linux/unix builds.

But check for any hint of some odd effects before you get and install any software from a marginal or unknown source, since adware can follow, and really odd things can start to happen then, like search engine redirects.

Anyway, helpful information about your computer and its current configuration, OS X version, RAM installed, hard disk drive specs (free vs used capacity) are numbers that can make a difference going into a new thing. Even Mavericks alone is not an upgrade, often that requires a bunch of extra chip RAM capacity.

I've used it for years and have been very happy with it for relatively simple edits for YouTube videos. Note, however, that I don't do a lot of color grading on 4k-8k H.265 4-2-2 codec files, however. The color tools in Davinci Resolve are better, but I still come back to Power Director for editing my videos. The text tools are good, it runs fine on a 4 year old Dell Win10 notebook, and doesn't crash.

In the long run, sure, Resolve has much more to offer, I just can't make myself become proficient with it, so I tend to use PD instead. PD WILL handle 1080p h.265 4-2-0 files just fine, but I haven't tried PD with some of the 4k h.265 4-2-0 codecs that the later cameras support. I can't even open any 4-2-2 video files in PD.

Yes, there is a learning curve, but you're not learning your way down a dead end street. If you're doing fairly simple edits of the type you're doing in PD then the hardware requirements aren't overwhelming, especially if you get an older version. I started running Studio on a I7-6700K with 32GB of memory, initially on a GTX1060 w/4GB, then a GTX1660 Super w/6GB and just today picked up an RTX3090FE w/24GB memory...wow, what a difference.

What I mean is that whether you stay at the level you are now in terms of the videos you shoot and the equipment you work with or you decide at some point to expand your editing skills, production values and/or invest in newer equipment, you'll have learned a system that you will never outgrow and be forced to learn a new system. You said it yourself, you need a system that you can grow within.

I haven't kept abreast of how far PD has evolved since I used it, but since I started with Resolve V15, it's amazing how much functionality has been added. The free version will probably do everything you do now and so much more...and at $300 the Studio version is probably the best deal in software on the planet!

Reality it's no different than anything else in life. You will find people that can't tell one brand of ice cream from the next. You'll find people that will scream if you change their favorite brand.

I have tried, Magix, Pinnacle, Sony Vegas and Power Dorector 18...
I really like PD which "for me" does what I need quickly, easily and without problem.
I am not into making incredible productions etc or a lot of colour grading so it works fine and I get my home videos in and out of PC quickly and easily.
There is much I need to learn with it but suits my needs.
I did look at free version of Da Vinci Resolve which looked so much more complicated but perhaps because I didn't spend enough time learning it...I realised the ease of PD and went straight back to it....
Just my thoughts...
Ray..

I've been using Powerdirector, various versions, for about 10 years. It's easy to use and great for everything I need it for which is anything other than color grading as mentioned above. I use it on both a 3080 powered desktop where it flies and also a MSI laptop that was only $800. It processes 4K quickly and efficiently. For me, it's just what I'm comfortable with.

The Lumix S9 is Panasonic's newest full-frame mirrorless camera. It allows users to create their own custom looks for out-of-camera colors and is the first full-frame Lumix camera aimed squarely at social media content creators.

The Sony a9 III is the world's first full-frame mirrorless camera to feature a global electronic shutter with simultaneous readout. After extensive testing of this 120 fps sports camera, to see what you gain (and, perhaps, lose).

The Fujifilm X100VI is the sixth iteration of Fujifilm's classically-styled large sensor compact. A 40MP X-Trans sensor, in-body stabilization and 6.2K video are the major updates, but do they make the camera better?

Here in PowerDirector, we now have AI in Motion Tracking. This lets you add text boxes or graphics that follow a chosen object over time, with greater accuracy. The tool is coupled with Object Detection to help you apply a mask around a person or object. You could then, for example, remove it or its background.

A lot of this kind of AI has been applied to audio components, such as Speech Enhancement to reduce background noise, and improve the quality of a spoken recording. Wind Removal is a godsend should you be forced to record someone outdoors in windy conditions.

On the audio editor side of things, you can now automatically lower the volume of background audio when someone starts speaking (Audio Ducking), your background score can be automatically altered so it perfectly fits the length of your footage (Smart Background Music).

You now also have controls to stabilize video footage and remove unwanted camera movement, or apply motion blur to moving objects. You have color matching parameters to make sure your shots remain consistent color and lighting-wise across a scene, and are able to adjust hues and vibrancy while protecting skin tone from distortion.

There are three versions of CyberLink PowerDirector: Standard, Ultra, and Ultimate. Obviously, the more expensive the version, the more features included. So, those advanced AI tools, such as Wind Removal, Speech Enhancement, Sky Replacement and Audio Smart Fit, are only accessible with PowerDirector Ultimate.

Ciberlink PowerDirector is a full featured video editing tool that you can use to create your own videos with all kinds of files: photos, video clips, and audio tracks. The only thing you'll need to put beautiful collages together is time.

Any user that's ever made use of video editing software like Adobe Premier and Sony Vegas, is going to be really quick in learning all the controls in Ciberlink PowerDirector. Using the time bar is very simple: just drag video elements. Selecting any of these elements allows you to crop them, shift them, adjust them, etc.

Between two short clips, whether they're videos or photos, you'll be able to add a transitioning effects slide. On this app there's over 30 different transitioning slides to choose from, and over 30 different visual effects for adding to any video.

Once you've finished working with a video, all you'll need to do is save your project and export it. Choosing video quality is simple, and you'll get to pick whether you want your file to be saved at anywhere from 360p to 1080p, depending on the material base you filmed it in.

Ciberlink PowerDirector is without a doubt, one of the best video editing apps out there today on Android. Other apps offer more effects and are easier to use, but the results you get aren't anywhere near what you get with this app.

PowerDirector is a video editing program created by Cyberlink, and allows you to use almost all of its functions free of charge and without any limit. It also has a premium version with more effects, templates, transitions and filters, which has a 30-day free trial.

Yes, if you export a video edited in PowerDirector and you have the free version, the video will have a watermark at the bottom right with the name of the program. If you want videos without a watermark, you will have to pay for the premium version.

All exported videos in the free version of PowerDirector are watermarked. There are apps such as Watermark Remover that remove the watermark, although this removal is not perfect, and they all leave some kind of effect.
