My blue snowball which just came in the mail this morning is making a high pitched noise. I have tried connecting it to all my usb ports but it still does it. Any help would be appreciated.

It turned out to be a little disappointment for me. It was extremely extremely tiny and blue color could not be seen anywhere. My eye sight is sharp but somehow I can't seem detect colors like others do. UHC filter darkened the background but no hint of color.

Last night was my first time observing the Blue Snowball after a failed attempt last week. With my 12.5" Dob @ 160x I could make out a doughnut shape with a very very light blue/teal color. Currently I don't have any higher mag eyepieces to use but I'd like to give this object a go with a higher power and darker skies.

light pollution will wipe out the faint colors of these objects, you have to try from dark skies. The "Cat's Eye" 6543 in Draco is another good one - planetary with high surface brightness that shows blue-green color.

I too saw the Blue Snowball for the first time last night (CPC8 with excellent skies). Spent a lot of time looking at 156X. Pretty sure I saw a very pale blue but I kept asking myself if it's the nickname or is the color really there.....I'm sure it was there, I think. Never thought about cranking the power so high like has been suggested here. Next time I will crank it up.

So my Blue Snowball is slowly dying on me so I'm planning on buying a new microphone. I know the blue yeti and at2020 are what most people go to as an upgrade but I was wondering if there are any other microphones people know of that are good around 80-130 it will mainly be used for streaming.

You have a switch at the back that has 3 positions and have you tried wiggling it around? And when it works the red indicator light should be on. See: -snowball-microphone-user-guide Opens a new window

A practical suggestion for relatively lightweight mics like the snowball, would be a cheap chinese version of a gorilla pod, these ball segment type flexible stands. They are really good for mics because rubber, and are very easy to put in all kinds of positions.
