Coach Publico remembers developing a passion for coaching back when he was a high school football player himself. He taught high school special education for four years and has been coaching for 18 years.

Watching the transition of middle school players first being introduced to high school football at these camps and then seeing them develop during high school is one of the many things that is fulfilling as a coach.

Middle school players will continue to have opportunities to gain experience at future Lancer football camps. The coaching staff plans on holding more camps for experienced middle school football players sometime this spring.

The CMU Men's Volleyball program is very pleased to announce the commitment of Max Anderson for the 2024-25 MCAC season. The Dakota Collegiate and WinMan Volleyball Club product joins his brother on what looks to be a young and talent-laden squad for the upcoming year.

Coming out of the perennial contender program at Dakota Collegiate, Anderson's Lancers team were finalists at the MHSAA "AAAA" Provincial Championships this past high school season after coming out on top the the SCAC zone to earn their spot at the major tournament. Anderson was named the Dakota Collegiate Athlete of the Month following their championship run, and also earned himself a Provincials All-Star selection and Graduating All-Star honours following the season. The team also medalled at the DMCI and MBCI tournaments in the city, took home a title at the Leboldus High tournament in Regina during the season, and developed a great rivalry with nearby Glenlawn Collegiate, where Anderson regularly matched up against fellow Blazers signing Adrian Deer. The Lancers and the Lions were neck-and-neck in most of their tournament and league finishes, entering the provincials as the second and third seeds respectively, but it was Anderson's Dakota side that punched their ticket to the finals in an epic semi-final battle.

After starting his club career with 204 Volleyball for his 13U year, like his club and now Blazers teammate Curran Chan, Anderson was hand picked this offseason to join a WinMan side that was assembling a squad to rival the perennial powerhouse Bisons Club for the 18U provincial championship banner. The team won the Volleyball Manitoba Premier II tournament, and competed in the Best of the West Tournament in Calgary. Anderson and his WinMan teammates pushed the top-seeded Bisons in the Provincial Championships, but ultimately came just short, but will have another chance to compete alongside the Bisons at the Volleyball Canada Youth Nationals in Edmonton later this month. Similarly to Chan, Anderson is following in his brother's footsteps to CMU, though this time both brothers have a chance to share the court for the first time in their blossoming volleyball careers, with Max in the middle and Seth on the outside.

Anderson was a practice player on the Manitoba Provincial Team last summer, where he continued to develop in terms of game sense and athleticism. At 6'4" Anderson is considered on the smaller side for middle blockers, so he must use that athleticism and ability to read plays in order to put up good blocks and to have the awareness to attack around opposition defenders. Blazers head coach Don Dulder is excited to bring in someone of Anderson's pedigree, with both of his parents having played CIS (now USports) here in Winnipeg. "Max comes from one of the best high school programs in the province, and is presently playing on one of the top club teams in Manitoba, so he brings a great deal of high level experience to our program. A great leaper, he's one of the best middles coming out of high school in the province; he can, and I believe will be a dominant middle in our conference, and it will be exciting to have him join his brother on the team."

Familiar with most of the new Blazers signings, Anderson is excited to suit up in the green and gold in the fall alongside WinMan teammates Curran Chan and Levi Johnston, as well as local club rivals Adrian Deer and Austin Spicer from 204 Club. Until then you may see him out on the beach courts in and around the city working on his game over the summer.

Following a seventh-consecutive MCAC Finals appearance this February, the Blazers will once again look to make an appearance on the national stage next season when the CCAA Men's Volleyball Nationals are held here in Manitoba, hosted by the Providence Pilots. For the first time in CCAA history, two teams from Manitoba will make the championships in a bid to increase the middle province's visibility on the national stage and show why Manitoba is still a hot bed of top talent in the country. The CCAA is the national body for collegiate athletics in Canada, offering 10 national championships in seven sports. Now finished its third full year of participation, the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference joins five other established CCAA conferences; PacWest (BC), ACAC (Alberta-Sask), OCAA (Ontario), RSEQ (Quebec) and ACAA (Atlantic).
