HiI'm new to Home Theater world so I'm sorry if my question sounds silly or stupid. I have Samsung 40MU6100 TV and Samsung HT-J5100K Home Theater, and afaik both support Dolby Digital Plus. I've spent hours trying to figure out if DD+ is configured properly but I haven't found an exact answer. I have updated both unit firmware to the latest version, and Home Theater unit is connected to TV through HDMI ARC and optical cable.
From the TV sound settings (Expert Settings), HDMI Input Audio Format gives me 2 options (PCM and Bitstream), while Digital Output Audio Format gives 5 options (PCM, DD, DD+, DTS and DTS Neo 2:5), but except for PCM and Neo, other options are greyed out. I'm a little bit confused because from what I read on Internet, optical / digital audio doesn't support DD+, and HDMI input supposedly supports that. Is that true? please cmiiw for this one.
From Home Theater unit sound settings, there's a couple options (including Speaker Selection, Audio Return Channel and Digital Output). First, I selected Audio Return Channel to "On". On the other hand, with Speaker Selection selected to "Home theater speakers", the Digital Output setting is greyed out, I have to change the Speaker Selection to "TV Speaker" so I can set it to PCM or 3 Bitstream options (Unprocessed / Re-encoded DTS / Re-encoded Dolby D), Hence my 2nd question, which should I choose?
I've watched some Dolby 5.1 test videos from Youtube, and from what I can hear, all speakers function normally. When testing center speaker, both surround speakers also has audio. With front right speaker tested, I can hear audio coming out from right surround (but not from left surround), and pretty much the same for the left speakers. This maybe nothing but while watching some movies from cable TV channels that supports 5.1 Dolby, I can't hear sound from surround speakers, I have to change the EQ to Cinema, Game, or S-Master to get them working.
I am trying to connect to my Sonos Playbase and the option for Dolby Digital is grayed so I cannot select, so I cannot get sound to my playbase. Is there a device I can purchase that will allow for the digital optical toslionk cables the Playbase came with? Thanks in advance.
I recently set up my Vizio soundbar to my Samsung Smart TV. The TV has the Dolby Digital Plus selection and Soundbar has it as well. It states to connect the cables to the HDMI ARC ports on TV and Soundbar to work. But when I look at the settings and the Dolby Digital Plus. It is greyed out. Why isn't this highlighted to set this up.
Hi I have a Samsung Smart Tv and sound bar with subwoofer but the sound coming out of the Soundbar isn't that loud sometimes and it's still hard to hear. I saw on another post that I should make sure my tv sound is set to Dolby sound but when I go to switch it from PM it says Dolby isn't available. Can you help me understand why?
If you turn off soundbar and back on while the movie is on will scroll Dolby atmos. When dolby digtial + is greyed out mean tv has selected this automatically and if you have switched on atmos compaitabilry then going through sound bar will be definitely atmos but will still show tv arc.
So, I have a 2106 Samsung 4K tv with no eARC, only ARC. Recently bought a Sonos Beam Gen 2 with two SL Ones as surrounds. With Sky Q box set to dolby digital plus I get sound on all programs other than when playing something with Atmos, then I get nothing at all.
Can you try watching something from the SKY Q box that is Atmos & as a test link the SKY Q box direct to the Sonos and see if you get Atmos OK (I haven't checked to see if the SOnos has pass through capability so if it hasn't then I appreciate during the test you may not be able to watch, as such, but just do the test for sound)
That said, recently I have noted the new UHD Sports channels do sometimes (or is that mostly) output DD+ without being Atmos (for example watching the Golf on the SKY Sports Main Event UHD yesterdaY) & the F1 UHD channel - so if you have the Sports pack can you check the F1 UHD channel - as I write this it is outputting 2.0 channel DD+
I have done some extensive testing and been in touch with Samsung and it would appear that the TV is at fault here. There is no option on the TV for DD+, only DD. There is DTS (greyed out) and DTS NEO 2.5 which I beleive is unique to Samsung and a faux suround. I'm assuming that DTS would allow Atmos? I will speak with their tech team this morning to see if they can cast any light on why the DD+ option is not shown when the TV does support it. For info my TV model is UE43KS7500

DTS is a rival tech and thus Atmos is Dolby only - there is an equivalent to Dolby Atmos called DTS:X which some discs carry (Harry Potter 4K/UHD discs have great DTS:X sound) but I don't know if any streaming use DTS let alone DTS:X
BTW Atmos & DTS:X are effectively Extensions which means they piggy back on / extend the main carrier which is why Atmos can be used with both Dolby Digital plus (a lower rate, compressed signal) and the uncompressed Dolby True HD - I can't remember the compressed versions of DTS off the top of my head - the uncompreessed version being DTS MasterHD which is more or less the standard on Blu-Ray discs
I hope there is an option for your TV to pass through the DD+ stream although from what you say that may not be possible or if you are lucky via a firmware upgrade. (Unfortunately a quick look at the Sonos Beam looks like, as I thought was the case, that it doesn't have an additional HDMI to allow SKY Q to be plugged directly to it)
I have deicided to give the HD Fury Arcana another run out in the hope it would be stable and give the Atmos I want. It is all plugged in, working and with the Sky Q audio output set to DD +. I can now get sound on all channels and especially those with an Amtos audio via the app on the Sky Q box. However, the best I can get in DD + 5.1 and never Atmos. All the cables are connected as they should be so any thoughts as to why I dont get Atmos when the program or film on Amazon Prime states that it is Atmos?

What is your Gamertag/PSN ID/Switch ID? Seake
Which mode has this happened in? Kick off
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Activate Dolby atmos on ps5 and try any mode.
What happens when the bug occurs? No sound comes out of rear speakers with Dolby atmos enabled on Playstation 5. This also happens on battlefield 2042 also so same problem happens in both games if this helps.
What should be happening instead? Should get 3d sound from Dolby atmos. I have to disable atmos and select regular dolby digital or lpcm for surround. The atmos works on other games and rear speakers do work.
It would be nice if EA could let us know if this is being looked into. I get that the Dolby atmos update is new on PS5 but still hope it will be fixed. I also tested some other EA games and pga tour golf and formula 1 2023 work well with atmos and rear speakers work on those games.
