Two upcoming events to remind everyone about:
Tomorrow evening we have our monthly certification training (3rd Thursday of every month), starting at 6:00pm until about 9:00pm. We’ll be outside so dress for the weather. For the newbies, certification training is where you can learn and practice tons of skills in a casual self-paced environment, everything from learning knots to complex mechanical advantage systems to ascending a rope, and more! Where? My house, 225 Astor Drive (off of south Main, left just past Carver Road, 1.7 miles south of University Ave)
Then, on Saturday we’re climbing the highest peak in the Organ Mountains- The Organ Needle. The weather forecast looks...okay... high of 51 (in town), maybe some breezes, but remember it’ll be colder and breezier up high (plus the sun won’t shine in Dark Canyon, so there could be some lingering snow). See the Facebook post for equipment list etc. we’re meeting at Milagro at (gasp!) 5:00am, so that we have a good probability of getting everyone to the summit and still getting back to vehicles by sunset (regardless, everyone should have a headlamp or flashlight). If you need more info, come to certification training.
See you there!
