Hi everyone,

The weather looks good for the hike Sunday, should be a nice day.  We plan to start the hike at 9 AM.  The first segment that we will hike Sunday is also called the Ute Pass Trail.  It starts near the base of the Manitou Incline.  Take a look at the map and instructions in the link Emma provided in her email, below.

We can meet at the upper, East parking lot of library 21C at 8:30 AM.  From there we will drive to Manitou Springs and park in the lot for the Incline shuttle bus (10 Old Mans Trail rd).  We should be at the base of the incline at about 9 AM.

So far the following people have signed up:

Emma Reinhardt
Dean Reinhardt
Megan Sanders
Sarah Sander
Eddie Mack (plus 1)
Jeff Smith

If anyone else is planning to attend please let me know.  Also, let me know if you will meet at the library 21C parking lot or at the trailhead by the Incline.

Everyone attending should bring a completed permission slip (attached) and the BSA med form, part A/B, available here:  https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_AB.pdf

Subject: Venture Crew Summer Events

Hey everyone,

At the last meeting we planned out some of our summer hikes and activities. We decided that we would hike Ring the Peak this summer, breaking it up into several different trips.
The first one of these is Sunday, May 5th, and it will be a day hike from Manitou Springs to Longs Ranch Road. This section of Ring the Peak is 3.8 miles long and very hilly(map of trail at http://www.fotp.com/8-trails/ring-the-peak-trail/trail-segment-1-1a). Plan on meeting Sunday morning, and I will send out more information about the meeting location and time. Also, I suggest that you bring a heavy backpack, so you can get used to carrying heavier weights in preparation for the overnight backpacking trip. Please email me if you are able to come. We will have a short  monthly meeting at the end of this hike.
The other planned events this summer are a day hike June 2nd, a backpacking trip July 11th-14th, and a tentative backpacking trip August 9th-11th. Please put these dates on your calendar and email me if you think you might be able to come on these trips.
Also, as a reminder there is a Pike’s Peak Council Venture Dinner on Monday, May 6th. Th deadline for RSVP is April 30th, if you want to pay $8 per person. After that date the price changes to $10 per person, and registration closes May 3rd. The council is hoping that as many Venturers as possible can attend this event.

If you have any other questions about upcoming events please email me,
Emma Reinhardt

Just a reminder, we will start the hike tomorrow morning near the base of the incline, so you can meet there at 9 AM.  If you want to meet at Library 21C, be there at 8:30.  Meet in the upper, NourthEast side (across from the D-20 building).  From there, we'll drive to the Manitou Springs shuttle bus and ride to the incline.

If you are going on the hike, let me know and tell me where you will meet us.  So far, I have:

Emma Reinhardt  (library 21C)
Dean Reinhardt (library 21C)
Megan Sanders
Sarah Sander
Eddie Mack (plus 1)
Jeff Smith
Mark Van Bueren (Manitou shuttle area)
Rich Lieber (and family)

The weather should be nice tomorrow and sunny, so bring sunscreen.  Bring water, a lunch, and a permission slip and the BSA part A/B medical form.

Thanks,

Dean
