Hi Everyone,
Some of you may know, that if you climb a 14er, you may redeem a free
sandwich from one of the nearby Which Wich sandwich shops.
To redeem, take a picture with a Which Wich bag to one of your favorite
14ers. Than attach the bag and photo to a Which Wich Peak Form. I have
scanned and attached both the bag and form. Simply fill out the Which
Wich Peak Form with your name and attach a photo of you at the summit of
a 14er you climbed and bring to the cashier for redemption.
It's a long hike. So, remember to take the photos at the summit of the
14er with your Which Wich bag. Some member so our crew are
participating in a FAMILY 14er hike this Saturday, Aug 10th - Grays and
Torreys Peaks (see attachment from
14ers.com). So. it looks like
several Venturers and adults may be enjoying a delicious Which Wich
sandwich!
I'll have a few Which Wich bags at the trailhead on Aug. 10th. So, see
me if you are interested. You may also pick up bags at any nearby Which
Wich shop (N Academy, or N. Nevada, or others).
Read Mr Evans email below if you are still interested and you haven't
replied (RSVP). Thank you.
Happy Hiking & Eating!
Mr. Van Bueren

>> Well, ok, actually only about 3,000 ft, over 7.5 miles, but the
>> hiking is always more special when you're over 14,000 feet! Here is a
>> chance to bag a Colorado "fourteener" peak, or two.
>>
>> What: "Family" (non-crew) hike.
>> Who: Anyone / everyone ready to tackle one of Colorado's great
>> activities!
>> When: 4:00am, Saturday, August 10, 2013,
>> Where: Starbucks parking log, Shops and Briargate.
>> How: We can take as many cars as we need and then consolidate to a
>> few as possible at the lower trailhead. I will be driving my CRV and
>> will be able to carry 3 more (tight fit).
>>
>> RSPV to Richard Evans so that I know who to expect at our departure.
>>
>> Located west of Denver, just off I-70, Grays Peak is a Class-1
>> (easiest) hike with a 3000 ft gain and 7.5 mile round-trip. And for
>> only an additional 0.75 miles, and 600 ft, Torreys peak is right
>> there and available for a two-bagger for those who want to add that
>> "extra" challenge. These are popular peaks and parking is often at a
>> premium. And given the current weather patterns of afternoon
>> thunderstorms, it will be important to car-pool and to get a very
>> early start. We should plan to arrive by 6:00am, which means a 4:00am
>> departure from C.Spgs. The road is rough and 4WD with short wheelbase
>> is recommended. Dress for summer -to- winter conditions, dry and wet.
>> Bring snacks and 2 - 3 liters of water. STURDY boots / shoes are a
>> must, warm gloves and head gear strongly recommended. As good scouts
>> will always carry the 10 essentials.
>>
>> NOTE: All 14er summit attempts are just that; "attempts". There is
>> no guarantee and we will retreat if weather threatens.
