Hello,

I'm in a wheelchair and I use a ventilator 24/24. I require a humidifier, I currently use Fisher Paykel HC550 with a heated circuit.

However, that humidifier setup can't really be mounted on my wheelchair.

I'm curious if any of your users have found a way around this.

I was thinking of using a battery operated ultrasound nebulizer instead, however some work would be required to hook this up to my ventilator.

I don't need heated humidity really, is there any portable humidifier system out there for ventilators?

Thanks, Jonathan.

Hi Jonathan: Your probem with no humidity while in your chair is nothing new. Even if you found a low voltage DC humidifier it would eat up battery power fast. The best solution I have found is the artificial nose (HME).

I use a Medisize HME and it is very effective.  Medisize also makes an HME booster.  I was trying to purchase one, and they gave me some samples of their HMEs, and they worked.
