Isuspect someone tried to uninstall Avast, but it was not successful. I could not find a way to uninstall the rest of Avast while i was on site. I found avastclear, which should gracefully uninstall everything, but i am not sure if what the previous tech/user tried to do. Does anyone have any further insight onto this? I am worried about avastclear not working, which may force me to wip the machine without a golden image.
It would be standard procedure on a consumer version, in the event of a failed uninstall, to use the Avast Clear utility. When you run the utility, you select the folder Avast was installed in, if different from the default. ( This is key because the contents of the folder will be deleted )
I believe it is business/enterprise grade. This is for a city/municipality where they have the CloudCare. I searched in the windows start menu for Avast, but only saw an installer. I did not check for the folders. I am not at the location to check at the moment. And I can not reach it via our RMM. I will be on site later this week to confirm.
The Avast Clear will remove all instances and leftovers of Avast Antivirus, when used in safe mode. You need to do that. Also, there is the Avast DNS engine called Real Site" that has, in the past, caused somew wierd issues, and I would disable that function for testing, sir!
