Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Node.js Backend Engineer with 8+ years of experience to join an internal IBM project. This role focuses on building high-performance, scalable server-side applications using TypeScript and the NestJS framework. You will be responsible for architecting event-driven microservices using Kafka, deploying containerized solutions on Kubernetes, and managing cloud-native data stores like AWS Aurora. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in server-side JavaScript and a strong grasp of modern cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills

Backend Architecture & Frameworks

• Modular Development: Design and maintain robust backend services using Node.js and the NestJS framework for efficient, testable, and scalable applications.
• Type-Safe Engineering: Utilize TypeScript to write high-quality server-side code, ensuring better maintainability and reducing runtime errors.
• Microservices Patterns: Develop and optimize microservices architectures that leverage Kubernetes for orchestration and scaling.

Event-Driven Systems & Cloud Native

• Stream Processing: Implement real-time data streaming and message queuing solutions using Apache Kafka.
• Serverless Execution: Build and deploy serverless functions using AWS Lambda to handle event-driven workloads and backend automation.
• Database Management: Manage and optimize data persistence within AWS Aurora (MySQL/PostgreSQL compatible), with secondary support for MongoDB and SQL.

Data & Advanced Analytics (Nice to Have)

• Python Integration: Collaborate on data-focused logic or scripting tasks using Python.
• Big Data Workflows: Exposure to Databricks for processing large-scale data sets and unified analytics.

Mandatory Technical Requirements

1. Node.js & NestJS: Extensive experience building enterprise-grade backend services.
2. TypeScript: Expert-level proficiency in server-side JavaScript development.
3. Cloud Infrastructure: Proven experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and AWS Lambda.
4. Messaging: Hands-on experience with Kafka for event-driven communication.
5. Database: Strong skills in AWS Aurora and general SQL/NoSQL proficiency.
