Mmm, confusing: I don't have or want Acrobat, that's a complete other line of Adobe products. So had to search but no, turns out that for some reason the reader now also is part of the Acrobat line. Plus only DC is offered, nothing else.

And what you describe is why I and my work stop with Adobe Reader: it is a simple PDF reader, the cloud feature is totally useless and only there to make money. And especially for an office environment it is no good. And I am not alone with all this: just do a search on Google and the complaints are many.

So when we mention Adobe Acrobat, everybody knows we mean the PDF creators. And when we mention Adobe Reader, everybody knows that's for the readers. Now this whole thing is screwed up by this new naming Adobe is doing.

Adobe, you are really going the wrong way here. There are a LOT of people who just want a simple PDF reader and not all this kind of member cloud trail communication whatever kind of stuff. You made something simple and good into something waaaayyyyy to complicated and not good at all

I am so happy that the original reader version 11 is still available. The DC version is awful. You can't get rid of the annoying bar, it constantly remembers every PDF I ever opened. I don't need that, Windows already does that for me and so much easier to use. The cloud is complete crap and never a feature I want to use. There are too many clouds, why would I want one JUST for PDF documents?

I have a wonderful professional copy of Adobe X. Because it refuses to set itself up to preview properly in Windows 8/8.1/10 (an incredibly long standing issue I might note), I installed the FOXIT reader (preview problem solved).

I don't think it is completely anything to do with adobe, but some kind of issue that it has working with windows. That is because it does show in Task Manager, but never opens. That is unless I reinstall everytime that I want to use it.

There are a number of posts that are plainly mistaken, and yours is one of them. There is no automatic collaboration with Adobe and Microsoft. What you are experiencing is some accidental configuration that has gone on with your installation. Maybe you mistakenly made a choice whereby adobe opens up in edge. I have my adobe acrobat reader files opening up in Firefox. You can choose which files are associated with certain programmes. You can disable that association or change it.

Its June 18th 2020 and it still sucks. I googled adobe reader dc sucks how to get old version back and this thread popped up. HAHA I'm glad Im not the only one. Adobe why would you mess with a good thing. Everyone I talk to hates your online adobe acrobat reader, dc, pro products........ Jeus Christ Im just trying to get work done and have to spend half the day messing with this crap.

I have come to despise Adobe. It has adjusted itself to be contemptuous to its customers. They make programs unusable and take up so much memory in the computer. Bloatware it is now. Friggin 'hate it. What to do? Well, GIMP is free and replaces photoshop and can edit PDF's. InkScape works better than Illistrator and is free. Here is a download for a free PDF reader. Haven't tried it myself but reviews sem to be good. -xchange.eu/pdf-xchange-editor/index.htm Lastly, you may be able to find an older verson on a tor site if you are really interested in keeping the old adobe software.

The "solution" does not work, as Acrobat DC blocks installation of the older Acrobat reader. I haven't got time for the cretins who "organised" this disgusting scam, so I have downloaded Sumatra so I can READ a second pdf while editing the first Acrobat DC file. Acrobat? GFY!

I'll come to this guy's defense. You are completely and utterly out of line Test_Screen. The "cloud" thing wrecks many computers out there. There are major problems with DC and how it messes with permissions. Adobe reader works just fine for us, but DC ruins everything.

So yes. I'm sure he knew what the "cloud" thing meant and, probably like me, wished that Adobe had created a program that works, or any tech support options that helped.

After this continued cloud model and trickery by Adobe, I had to give up Photoshop for the cloud, I've just decided to just quit using Adobe's reader altogether and will learn to deal with the Chrome reader.

I know it's been a while but in case you haven't found this already, there are many pdf readers from other software companies that offer you a lighter, faster loading experience and more features. I like PDF XChange from Tracker Software.

PDF has succeeded wildly as a safe and standard document exchange format, beating out Common Ground and other contenders. But Adobe seems have lost the plot in its desire to add value to their DC subscribers (which I am not). It would be preferable if Adobe also offered a free basic reader as an alternative to the Acrobat Reader DC with all its bells and whistles (and quirks about where and how to save files). It should also be secure. Oh wait, they used to offer such a product choice...

@amartin has this adobe acrobat reader dc updater script been fixed yet? I just grabbed it earlier today and it's nothing but spitting out error when trying to update to current version (see below taken from policy details of one computer that is currently running 20034).

I found that sometimes it was because the installed macOS was not compatible with the current version of adobe reader.
Computers running version 17 or 18 of reader weren't compatible with current versions 20.

I am having this same problem. I am experiencing issues interacting with adobe even with the security checkboxes unchecked, even after restarting both uipath, adobe, and my machine multiple times. Any update from UIpath on this?

If have an older installation then please make sure to read the general terms of use and uninstall any old Reader and plug-in installation before installing the new reader and the plug-in. The integration works with the 2019.010.20064 version of Acrobat Reader DC and Acrobat DC. Please do not use the plug-in with an earlier version of Acrobat.

This article describes the protected PDF readers that are supported for Azure Information Protection (AIP). Protected PDF readers enable users to open those encrypted PDFs and view the sensitive information contained.

Encrypting your PDFs with AIP ensures that unauthorized people cannot read the file's content. Protected PDF readers that support AIP verify that you've been granted permissions to open the document, and also decrypt the content for you.

If you're unable to open your protected PDF using the recommended reader, the document may be protected in a previous format. For example, Microsoft SharePoint currently uses an older format for PDF documents in IRM-protected libraries.

I have created an interactive PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro9. When the form has been reader enabled and distributed out, my boss and others in the office cannot fill the form out because the form fields do not appear. Sometimes they have to send the form back to me because the reader enabler has disappeared.
