And the Gods Struck First...
THREE WEEKS BEFORE
With a mighty hand, the Dessert Gods took the first blow to the VeloViets in the Battle for Palm Springs. Targeting the fastest Female Warrior of the club, the Gods struck hard, and slice deep, within the heart of the VeloViet pack. Leveraging on the element of wind, the Wind God blew up a dessert windstorm and hit Turbo right at her front wheel. Unable to control her cycling steed, Turbo smacked hard into the cruel hard pavement of Jamboree.
The Pack could not believe their eyes! Their strongest Warrioress lay by the side of the road bleeding and her face looked as if a hundred eagle claws had scratched her tender cheeks. The Pack quickly reacted and helped Turbo, but deep down inside they knew that the fight at Palm Springs was that much harder without their beloved Turbo by their side.
ONE WEEK BEFORE
The pain etched heavily on his face. The Old Man had suffered tremendously even when the ride first started. His sinewy muscle no longer the youthful twitching tendons that it once was, Spartacus leaned heavily on his bike trying to keep with the young pack. Cap't John had prepared what may be the finest group of young Warriors for this upcoming fight... but he knew that the fight would be the hardest 71 miles into the ride, and he is uncertain that he will be able to survive this long bloodied war. He looked back and viewed the tired faces of his comrades.
The battle plan has been drawn months ago. There will be only one Army, under the supreme leadership of Cap't John, they would be a fast moving commando team, striking hard and fast into this desert land. But there are new faces within the VeloViet pack, and these dessert virgins know not what they are about to get into. They are young, and eager to please, but the dessert BARBARIAN HORDE is strong and they will not spare any lives! The HORDE will strike and bust up this virgin group. Gone were the mighty VeloViet Veterans of War. With names like: Mad Dog, The Animal, Diesel, and The Turbonator, they used to rule the battles that VeloViet took on. Can these next generation VeloViets handle the bloody gore and rule the dessert land?
Near the end of Highway 133, Spartacus The Gladiator stopped and squinted his eyes. Something or someone was coming up fast on Highway 133. His Oakleys was smudge, the sun shining bright, and his old eyes could not make out the sight in the distance. Suddenly the forms materialized and he can see that there were two riders coming up fast. As they draw near, he gasped...
Out of the dream comes the most glorious sight.... a Man and a Woman. The two cyclists needs no introduction, as they are what VeloViet's legends were made from. FedEx and Turbo rode up to the VeloViet Pack!
For those who are new and need introduction to VeloViet
Mythology... Many many years ago when
the club was new, there were the Elders who ruled the pack with an iron
fist. With this strength, they had build
a strong kingdom welcoming the poor and unwanted. With the now fertile land, out of the VeloViet's womb borne a young
Warrior named FedEx. The Elders groomed
him to be the most effective weapon that the entire OC had never
seen. Many years the young Warrior fought for the VeloViet. Tired and wounded after the last Mountain battle
with the GMR Gods, FedEx had withdrawn into the its caves sick of the bloody
wars. He was not seen for a number of years.
Turbo walked a different path in growth, but whose roads still was rocky
and dangerous. Restless and unsatisfied
for many years, Turbo had come into the VeloViet Kingdom searching for that
internal satisfaction. She became a
disciple of the Warrior FedEx, and built up her fortune and fame. Her internal desire was so strong and bright,
that she blazed a glorious path the first time she ever tackle a true mountain
with the VeloViet Pack. Turbo quickly
became a fan favorite of those who worshiped the steep slope. After the takedown by the Wind God, she was cared by a benevolent Goddess. From the Goddess bosom she fed and quickly recovered from her injuries.
With the infusion of these battle harden riders into the mix, Spartacus felt renewed energy. He turned and face the windswept desert lifting his 5-foot long Bianchi Ducati sword. He lifted his face and howled madly at the bright sunlight. If he were to die... he will die fighting! To dessert hell and back we will go... he swore!
This coming Saturday is the first Epic Ride the VeloViet will take in 2018. Palm Springs had always bring the "epic" in a VeloViet's ride. A cast of thousands will come, and the VeloViets will bring their best Warriors to this feast. If you have not experienced dinner and drinking at Nhat's house the night before the ride... you have not lived life to its fullest!
To the Kingdom of the Sun we go! See you there my friends!
