Here's an opinion article about managing geeks:

http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9137708/Opinion_The_unspoken_truth_about_managing_geeks?taxonomyId=14&pageNumber=1

I think it pretty accurately describes the issues surrounding managing
"IT people."

Jason,

I think that is an excellent article.

Which is why I posted it in the 'Finally, someone said it'

Ironically, I posted it in sl-agile and we ended up discussing the
whole notion of stereo types. Some of them seemed to have a quite
different reaction to the article than we did.

Cheers,
Andrew

Truly, this product is the ultimate in really bad gifts.

Plus, it doesn’t even do what it says on the box.  These people need to learn the difference between a goatee (no mustache) and a Vandyke(stache-having).

I think there is a lot of connection with the points of this article and
those written up by Eric S Raymond in his essay "How to Become a Hacker"
(http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/hacker-howto.html). Espeicialy in points
4 and 5 (http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/hacker-howto.html#believe4).
