I think that John was a cat, in a previous life.
I was just thinking that myself. Why does John get all the fun?--On Wed, May 29, 2013 at 3:02 PM, <blue...@yahoo.com> wrote:

A week ago I posted what I thought was a summary of my recent activities - surgery, pills, etc. I thought it was brief but in rereading my post, it just seemed to drag on and on.
However, I now have some news!!! Something wonderful has happened to take my mind off the knee/leg inconvenience/pain, etc.
I just got bitten by a dog while on a bike ride in Walnut Creek Park. This time, instead of yelling and swearing, I got the owner's name & number. I have always been aware of a little friction between dog walkers and mountainbikers on the Walnut Creek trails. So today, as is my usual habit, I was saying "Hi, how you doing?" to all the hikers and dog walkers that I encountered. Just trying to be friendly. Guess this was one dog that didn't buy my nice guy routine and decided to chew on me.
When I got home, I called my doctor and now I'm going to get a tetanus shot this afternoon.
But for a while, I wasn't even thinking about my leg!!!

All,
We haven't had much activity on the forum over the past month or so. Why is that??
I haven's had much to say because I've really been off the bike. My "full knee replacement" was on January 28th with the followup surgery to remove infected components on March 15th. Three days in the hospital the first time and four days the second time. Then six weeks of antibiotics through a "port" installed in my arm. From there, I will continue some milder antibiotics for another six weeks or so. And through all of this, I've had physical therapy 2-3 days per week first to get range of motion and then the mechanics of walking. And it continues on Monday and Friday mornings. Now, I've started riding 1-2 hours when I can manage it.
There is still ongoing pain and related pills. Three months (June 15th) is supposed to be the point at which I'll be 90% recovered.
I've set a personal goal to race in the "Tour of Austin" on Labor Day. Anyone else interested?
CLUB NEWS:
I had a long conversation with Joyce Nugent at Bicycle Sport Shop. She is expecting several of us to join their club. In fact, I've told her about all the race winners in Velocity who are looking for a replacement club for the future. Remember 40% of their members are racers so we will have team mates to work with in those road races. So let's get on the internet and sign up guys!!
The annual membership fee ($75.00) covers the cost of a BSS T-shirt and Jersey. It's really a pretty good deal. By the way, they do have that club Sport Shop Jersey in stock now.
See you out there on one of those club rides on a Saturday morning soon!!
John
