The motion system we built on VXM controllers works fine. At this moment we are looking for a way to control laser parameters and programs. We have a communication with Laser machine (PC-LASER) via Serial port. Is there any way we can send command from Cosmos to laser? I know there are few commands in PowerBsic and MatLab allow anipulations with ports, but didn’t find anything in Cosmos.

Please advise us is any indirect way existed.

COSMOS was not built to run another device. (It would be shear luck if the parameters matched and you could manually use COSMOS to send commands to the other device but that would only work in the terminal)

To link the 2 you should probably use a higher level langauge like PowerBasic or MatLab and either use the driver examples for the VXM or use the intrinsic language commands to send VXM commands to the VXM (Or in your case use intrinsic to send commands to the other device) and then write code to perform as a "Traffic-Cop" whether you meant to send to a VXM or the other device

Using COSMOS to communicate with any device that is not a VXM is not
supported.
As ny.rs232 pointed out, I would use some programming language to
communicate with the VXM and whatever the other device is.
