Samsung Smart Switch Not Downloading

smart switch crashes as soon as its opened

riunning windows 10 v21h2

so I uninstalled it with revo uninstaller, restarted my machine and tried again - same result.

any ideas?

I've tried samsung smart switch on two different windows 10 pc's and on both the software crashes. they are both new install and the latest version all of you at samsung should be ashamed of yourselves for releasing such junk!

Hi, @neuronetv1. I am sorry we missed this. I am at a loss as to what is causing Smart Switch to crash on both of your PCs. That is not what we would expect, however, and we have not been able to replicate this.

my pc's said the Microsoft Media Feature Pack was not applicable to my computers so I'm back where I started with this crashing software and no solution. the fact that I've tried smart switch on two seperate windows 10 pc's would indicate the fault is with the software. I don't get this crash with other programs on my pc's.

This is a complain from china SM-G9910 (S21) user , i bakup data with Smart switch , then reset my phone. very suck that i can not revocery data frome Smart switch as the same crashes as this topic . i contact with deskhelp from samsung china, they can not give a solution to fix issue too. really shamed with samsung.

I have been using Samsung Smart Switch in Windows 10 to backup my Samsung S9+. However, now I have a problem in starting the Samsung Smart Switch. After launching, it tries to update the program, but fails everytime. I have tried to re-install the program with no success (downloading a new version of the program from the Samsung download center), and even tried it in two different computers. Any ideas to get the Samsung Smart Switch running again.

I have not managed to completely solve the problem. However, now I downloaded and installed the latest version of Smart Switch, and it is at least somehow working. It still suggest to update Smart Switch every time the program is executed, but now I can just cancel it and the application seems to work properly. This very peculiar since previously I have had no problems with Smart Switch.

I am having the same problem. Smart switch tries to update "some components", but gets stuck on 100% download and never completes the update. I have unistalled and reinstalled several times on several different computers. I am not trying to backup my phone, I am trying to update my Galaxy s20 ultra that has been carrier umlocked and needs to be updated through smart switch.

I had the same problem. Smart Switch would download the update (v4.2.2), but then app would close when the download got to 100%. I would open Smart Switch again, and the same issue would occur so I couldn't use the application because it tried to updated each time I opened it and then it would close automatically. I downloaded and installed the new version of Smart Switch from the Samsung website over the top of the existing installation on Windows 10 1909, and now it's working without any issues.

I was prompted to download the latest version of Smart Switch 4.2.21013.13 It downloaded, then deleted Smart Switch from my Windows 10 PC. I tried it on my laptop and that hasn't worked either, so I can't backup my phone. Poor show.

Hi @Gaelstorm Some customers have experienced issues with Smart Switch and Windows 10. Have you tried to download again , previously there were problems with Firefox so I would suggest you use another Browser in the first instance, such as Chrome. Ensure you are downloading from the samsung website

I downloaded Smart switch from Samsung after it had been deleted from my PC. It worked ok. I think the trick is don't update when you get prompted to! Or if you do and it deletes the whole program, just download it again.

That does NOT help those of us who depend on smart swith to sync with outlook. My updated smart switch is absolutely useless as now I cannot sync my calender and contacts with outlook on my pc which I need so how do we solve that ABYSMAL mess ?

It seems that Samsung are now only allowing Samsung apps such as Samsung Email and Samsung smartswitch available via the Galaxy store and making them "not compliant" with the Google Play store, so we cannot download or manage them from there.

Which wasn't a real issue until we tried to use Samsung Smart Switch which was downloaded from the Samsung Galaxy store, it will not let it run, saying "Security Policy restricts the use of Smartswitch" . I have approved Smartswitch and ticked "allow run" in the Managed Play store but this does not seem to have any affect on the one installed from the Galaxy store.

My Question is , is there a way to manage Galaxy play apps ? or simply just Allow Samsung Smart switch ? All other apps from the Galaxy store I have tried work fine excepting smart switch, which our users need when transferring phones. Apparently Smart switch requires explicit "allow to run" to work .

Thanks for the reply, I had seen this post and tried this beforehand...unfortunatley it doesn't work for me. I think this may be caused by the fact that Smart Switch is not being downloaded from the Play store, but instead the Galaxy store. I do not have the option to download from the Play store as it seems Samsung on the newer model phones ( A21s) are making Samsung Apps incompatible from the Play store and forcing a download from the Galaxy Store.

Is there any way of forcing an app install if its listed as "incompatible" or alternatively is there any way of making the Smartswitch App not require the managed setting mentioned in the linked thread ?

I spent HOURS on the phone w Samsung, and FINALLY received the answer (from Samsung)! It DOES NOT work with the A21, They are aware of this and NO there are no plans to resolve it. Did they offer assistance as I recently had upgraded to the A21. NO THEY DID NOT. So we are just stuck with it not working.

I bought a samsung MIM-H04 ( kit wifi ) to manage my samsung air conditioners.

Play store tells me that smartthinks is not available for my cell phone.

Nowhere do they report which devices or versions of Android it works with.

I need the app for my cell phone with Android 7,

where can I download it? And if not, how do I use the wifi kit that I bought from you?
