One solution I have found is to ask the bartender for a cocktail straw. I then can precisely add the amount of water I need from whatever size glass with however much cubed or crushed ice they may hand me. I simply dip the straw into the water, cover the end with a finger, and carry it over to my scotch. This is also a fine way to extend the drink experience, similar to an absinthe drip.

Being a bartender is about getting what we want, not necesarily what we ask for. unfortunately quality bartending is a lost art and most of what you get today are 20 something career community college students who havent a clue about what the bar experience is about from the customer perspective. thus in most places the ashtrays are overflowing, the puddles of beer on the bar are stale, the drinks take way too long, and everything in their lives, including their 2 absent baby daddys, is our fault. I find it hillarious when one of these 20 somthings gets huffy having to remember the few cheap single malts they carry. It is like, hon, i am obviously gladly willing to pay at least 2X more per drink than anyone in here, you may want to learn your trade and find out how your bread is buttered. what, i would be cool to you and you would not be huffy if i say and swilled $2 drafts all night like a frat boy?

First off, congratulations! I know that technically barbacks are considered below bartenders on the bar and nightclub food chain, but the real truth is, they are the heart and soul of many bars throughout the world.
Like under-appreciated school secretaries, barbacks are the oil that makes the machine run smoothly. We as bartenders can barely function without them at times. But, unlike secretaries who will never get their credential and become teachers, you as a barback can move up the ranks quickly and become a bartender, which means you become cooler and richer and gain higher status than when you were a barback.
Carlos has ruined me for all other barbacks because I now measure and compare them to Carlos, which is bad for them because when I think of the perfect barback, I think of Carlos, and the only thing that would ever prevent me as a manager from promoting someone that awesome to bartender would be that I would lose a great barback, but in reality, bartenders who used to be barbacks are usually amazing because they know everything that needs to be done, both on the bartending side and the barback side. Super valuable.
Probably my favorite characteristic that Carlos possessed was his ability to anticipate what I needed before I even asked for it. I would pour the last of a Jack Daniels bottle and as I was taking the pour spout off, Carlos would hand me a new opened bottle of JD so all I had to do was put the pour spout in. He filled our fruit trays, filled our juices, got us ice, took out bus tubs, cleared plates and even took orders from guests. He was EVERYWHERE. If you do this for your bartenders, they will LOVE you, and so will the manager who decides who becomes a bartender next.
When 10.0 launched, I used Bartender 4 to move the queue status icon back to the top right corner near the minimap. When I click the Bartender icon to move UI elements around, it shows that the queue status icon should still be there. The problem is that, when I queue for dungeon, the icon shows in the bottom right corner of the screen instead where I specifically placed the icon using Bartender.
I opened edit mode and it shows the menu bar in the bottom right corner of the screen with the queue status icon as part of the menu bar. I am using the Bartender menu bar, not the default one, but for some reason the queue status icon is showing where the default menu bar is instead of where I told Bartender to place it.
