The club is great and all the people who work here are friendly. Most people who come here are social. FLAC is a place you can come in the summer or winter. In the summer you can come here to get away from the heat and humidity. In the winter you can get away from the cold and snow. I use the walking track and the weights upstairs. Great location, and a great building all around.
Hi all, I was hoping to be able to play FLAC music files via the USB port on my Composition Media unit. I am aware guides state FLAC is not supported; just wondering if anyone has found a solution via USB specifically - I'm used to storing at least a 0.5TB of music on a portable hard drive and playing from it. Upside is I can play FLAC via AUX and a FiiO MP3 player, so not the end of the world...
Mine plays flac OK. I have them on a 128gb SD card tho. Not tried the USB. I use mediamonkey to set up artwork etc. Have you got the stick as fat32 ? I'd expect it to work

Neither did I until last year. Was convinced and some web chat suggested that FLACs weren't supported in MIB1 - but then I read here someone was playing flacs. Rechecking my files, I realised that I had ALAC files, having wrongly batch-converted in DBPPoweramp. Reloaded FLACS from my Logitech Media Server home-ripped library, and bingo. I then used Sanse Art tag resizer to ensure all artwork is 400x400px. FLACS now play. Sounds great in the helix plug and play audio , as well as a mates Golf. With Dynaudios
Hi all, thanks for the replies. I was specifically hoping to access FLAC via USB rather than the SD or Aux route, which work fine, as you say. USB allows me to hook up a large portable drive eg 1TB. I had a Dynavin head unit and it worked great on that. Not a big deal though to using a smaller capacity and one of the other formats.
Even if you could get enough current, you would then have to ensure that the corresponding and correct USD IDE/SATA device drivers already exist within the VW system that can talk to the particular brand of external HDD you just powered up. This is unlikely.
Would have thought any usb 2.0 device would have the required drivers on the pro, think it would need to be fat32 tho for it to run. I used to power a 40 gig lappy drive in my previous car this way. But your correct a 128GB memory card or usb is plenty space for most people
