Dearest Friends and Family,
It is with much excitement and enthusiasm that I bring this newsletter to you.  It will continue to bring you inspiration, practical life tidbits, recipes etc. that are simple and easy to put into practice.  From time to time we will be offering specials on health related books, supplements, sprouts, classes, lectures etc.  Check out this edition and feel free to give feedback, requests for recipes and other info. Most importantly take the time because you love yourself and read about our special group trip to Hippocrates Health Institute in this issue.     The Great Oak Collaborative was created by Amar Fuller.  As a graduate of Hippocrates Health Institute’s Life Transformation Program and the Health Educator Course the experience that Amar creates aligns itself with the philosophy of the Institute.  The Hippocrates mission states, “Vibrant health is the most valuable asset we can ever have.  Yet, we all know that good health does not just happen.  Like all things of great value, it needs to be nurtured and cultivated with care.”  Over the years Amar has created a way of life exemplifying values that create change from good, to better, to best.  The program embraces people that face health challenges as well as those looking to reboot their good health to a higher level.  She is continually open to transforming herself to sustaining a higher vibration of light and love.  The Great Oak’s support network is a collaboration of people and resources that welcome you to join this journey.  Together we will support you to realize and create a path to achieve your greatest outcome for wellness.
 

    After an initial consult with Brian Clement (Director of Hippocrates Health Institute) and weekly appointments with other health administrators, clients detoxify their systems through diet, individually tailored treatments and supplements, which infuse the body with oxygen allowing for greater health.
 

    Amar will assist you in exploring the spectrum of natural approaches integral to the restoration of your well being i.e. superior nutrition through a diet of organically grown vegan raw and living enzyme rich food, varied exercise, hot tub relaxation, therapeutic massage, shiatsu, juicing and cleansing, compassionate guidance during your initial detoxification process, daily walks, health lectures and hands on experience learning how to grow your indoor sprout garden and prepare the healthy cuisine we offer.

 

OUR HOME

 

 

    We rent rooms in our shared family house.  We run our family businesses out of the home which include: 

  • Khalsa Childcare (a raw and living foods daycare)
  • Khalsa Healing Arts Studio (a space for yoga, healing arts sessions and workshops) available to rent.
  • Sprout Room (our new sprout growing venture)
  • Raw Power (classes on the living foods lifestyle and purchase of raw living foods, sprouts, desserts and juices)
  • Sadhana: an early morning yoga and meditation practice open to the community and household member
  • Private consultations with Amar: (healing sound, yoga and meditation, essential oils, emotional/spirit work, cleansing diet, strengthening the immune system

 

We are looking for renters who would like to participate in our vegan raw and living foods lifestyle.  This is an incredible opportunity to eat an optimal healing, rejuvenating and healthful diet in a household with others who eat in this conscious way and with the option to have this gourmet organic cuisine prepared for you daily!  This consists of fresh wheatgrass and green juices, lunch and dinner.

Recipe Corner:
 

Live Garden Burger

 
2 cups almonds
3 carrots, coarsely chopped
1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
¼ cup raisins
1 teaspoon honey
1-2 teaspoons olive oil
¼ bunch fresh herbs (such as basil, thyme, dill, rosemary)
1 teaspoon sea salt
 
Blend all ingredients in a food processor. Form into balls, cutlets or fillets and sprinkle with a little paprika. Dehydrate for authentic garden burger look or eat as is, pâté-like. Serve with salad or veggies on the side. Serves 6-7 (A portabella mushroom makes a great burger bun!)
 

Crunch Fries

 
1 pound jicama (sliced in a French-fry shape)
1 tablespoon onion powder
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
sea salt to taste
1 tablespoon paprika
 
In a bowl, combine jicama with remaining ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Serve with “raw ketchup”.
 

Raw Ketchup

 
½ cup dried tomatoes, soaked in water 15 minutes
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon raw agave nectar
1 tablespoon onion powder
½ teaspoon sea salt
 
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Use ketchup to season a burger or serve with veggies and herbs. Serves 3-4.

Health Tip:
 
In living healthfully with abounding energy one must become a master chef and acquire and use all the ingredients to create the prize-winning recipe: “Quality of Life”!
 
Here is my list of ingredients for optimum health:
 
1)     Water: Drink alkaline water that has been ionized. From the time you awaken until 2-3 hours before bedtime drink in ounces your body weight divided by 2 each day. (i.e. if your weight is 120# you would drink 60 ounces of water/day.) 
2)     Sleep: For a deep, peaceful, healing sleep refrain from eating and drinking 2-3 hours before bedtime. It is best to have sleep that is uninterrupted, devoid of digesting food and getting up to go to the bathroom.
3)     Raw and Living Foods: Prioritize you health first and eat RAW, RIPE, FRESH, ORGANIC, leafy greens, soaked nuts & seeds, vegetables and fruits.
4)     Sun: For a minimum of 30 minutes per day have as much of your body exposed to the sun as possible, preferably not right in the middle of the day in summer when the sun is very strong.
5)     Exercise: In order to keep the lymph system clean we need to pump it with exercise. Find ways to move your body that are fun! Find a buddy or a class to join. Some like to do it solo too! What suits you?
6)     Love: Keep the heart open so it is available for you to receive all the light, blessings and healing this universe holds for you. When you use your heart well you are able to give love. The beautiful circle of love is one of giving and receiving. Each day make it a priority to nurture your spirit, engage your mind in self-empowering thoughts and deeds, and always honor your emotions.
