Now I will notify others to help!

On Oct 21, 2015 1pm - 5pm

Massachusetts Has a Second Chance to Create an
Animal Abuser Registry--Act NOW to Pass H1385!

Last year’s “Puppy Doe” law was gutted before being enacted. It’s empty legislation. But we now have a second chance to protect vulnerable animals from animal abusers.

Coalition to Protect and Rescue Pets just learned that House Bill 1385, sponsored by Rep. Steven Howitt (R-Seekonk), will get a public hearing on October 21. H1385 is solid humane legislation that will:

·        Create a registry of Massachusetts residents convicted of abusing animals AND

·        Require individuals convicted of animal abuse in other states to register within 10 days of relocating to Massachusetts AND

·        Prohibit breeders (including backyard breeders), pet stores and shelters from selling or giving animals to individuals on the registry

H1385 is before the Judiciary Committee, which must approve it--or it can't become law. Take a few minutes to ensure it does:

ACT NOW!!!

HELP GET THIS BILL PASSED...

TO KEEP ANIMALS OUT OF THE HANDS OF ABUSERS

ATTEND THE PUBLIC HEARING ON WED., OCTOBER 21

1:00-5:00 pm, Rooms A1 and A2 at the Statehouse

Testify if you can--this is especially important if you're a shelter/rescue volunteer or ACO!

AND/OR MAKE A FEW QUICK EASY CALLS ASAP

Who to Call, What to Say

1)     Judiciary Committee House Chair John Fernandes, 617-722-2396 AND

2)     Judiciary Committee Senate Chair Will Brownsberger, 617-722-1280 AND

3)     Call your own Rep or Senator IF s/he’s on this committee:

https://malegislature.gov/Committees/Joint/J19

4)     If you get voicemail, call back till you can speak with an aide.

Don’t know who your Rep and Senator (on Beacon Hill) are? Click here and enter your info in the Find a Legislator box: https://malegislature.gov/

Politely and briefly say:

·        You’d like the Judiciary Committee to approve H1385.

·        It’s solid legislation that protects vulnerable animals from abuse.

·        If you’re a constituent, say so! Constituents rock.

·        If you’re a shelter/rescue volunteer or ACO, say so!
