This issue features:

* The Editorial, in the first of two parts, considers some aspects of
the relationship of the Divine Spirit to the animals.

* One of the NewsNotes tells of wonderful newly-discovered facts
about whale song.

* One of the Gems is from Anatole France: "Until one has loved an
animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."

* The first of the two Reviews evaluates the dog-meets-boy movie,
FIREHOUSE DOG.

* One of the Recipes is "Thai Corn Chowder." (Having had some this
very day, I highly recommend it.)

* Our Pilgrim is the editor of the CVA newsletter TAKE HEART, Lorena
Mucke.

* The Pioneer for June is Nobel-prize winning novelist Isaac Bashevis
Singer.

* Two of the works in the Poetry column this month are whimsical
excerpts dealing with animals from longer works by fourteenth-century
poet Geoffrey Chaucer, together with translations by your dauntless
editor with a little online help.

We on the staff always appreciate responses to any part of THE
PEACEABLE TABLE.
